Comments about Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2010 Closeout:
As a former AT thru-hiker, back-country outfitter, and general outdoor lover, I can say that this is the best jacket I have ever bought. It is warm, durable, and extremely lightweight, and the athletic fit helps to keep the warmth in without feeling like it weighs you down.
The jacket can pack down to about the size of a loaf of bread, and it is the only jacket you need, even in near-freezing conditions. I wore it as my go-to jacket for months of long-distance hiking, and I still wear it as casual outerwear. It even has a DWR that helps keep the jacket somewhat water-repellant, and the prima-loft materiel keeps you warm even if you get wet!
Bottom line: this jacket does the job efficiently and will last for many many years.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2010 Closeout:
Comfortable and very warm. Sheds light rain/drizzle.
Packs tiny and light, makes a great pillow, stays warm even when a bit wet.
Very light fabric, so would be careful if you're heading through dense bush.
No pit zips, maybe a bit too warm for heavy exertion, but great end of day / stopping for a while jacket.
Quality excellent.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Insulated Jacket - Men's - 2010 Closeout:
I've worn this in temps from 25f to 55f. While on vacation I wore this on a hike around lake Coeurd A'lene watching the Bald Eagles. It was snowing and 25 degrees and I only had one layer under neath. Not the jacket to stand around doing nothing in weather like that but its awesome for cold weather hiking or walking the dog when it's windy and 50 out. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because its made in [*]! I tried on one of the same jackets on the floor of REI and the interior of one sleeves had a factory flaw where they missed the seam with the sewing machine. check your jacket at the store, inside and out.
