Comments about Merrell Marielle Shell Jacket - Women's - 2010 Closeout:
I live in Denver, CO and adventure in the Rocky Mountains most often, and layers are the only way to get by through fall, winter, and spring. I purchased this jacket looking for a shell that could take me from cold weather jogging and help cut out the wind and any precipitation, and then take me trough spring and summer hikes as breathable rain gear. I don't have a lot of money to spend on equipment, so versatility is important to me. One of favorite things about this shell is that it is lightweight and non-insulated, so in winter activity, it's perfect over a baselayer and fleece. I haven't used it in the spring or summer yet, but I see it being just as useful in the cold rain.
Another favorite thing is the pit-zips! I can overheat with layers fast, and the armpit zippers contribute so well to temperature control. Perfect again for winter jogs and cold/cool weather hikes, and will probably come in handy for warm weather rainfall as well.
I love the light fleece lining around the wrists and at the back of the jacket, just enough to add extra warmth and coziness but not enough to contribute to bulk and overheating. Will probably feel great to wear avoiding spring and summer rain fall as it picks up the sweat.
The sizing seemed a bit big to me. I'm a size 31 waist and have a 36 inch bust and the large was pretty big. I returned it for a medium and it fits perfectly over a vest, a thick fleece and a baselayer. I have it in black and I love the pattern on it as well. Subtle and attractive.
The jacket still has a bit of the woosh sound that comes with waterproof gear, which might discourage some from wearing it casually, but I think the look of the jacket sets it apart from other outdoor shells.
This coming year, I intend on taking this jacket to urban and backcountry exploration of Vancouver and British Columbia, packing it as rain gear for a backpacking trip through the Colorado Rockies, and continuing to use it on day hikes and jogs. We'll see how it holds up, but I have high hopes.

Comments about Merrell Marielle Shell Jacket - Women's - 2010 Closeout:
I really like the look and weight (light) of this jacket, but it is sized WAY TOO SMALL. I ordered a large, and it looks like a wetsuit if worn over a fleecy vest,,,,don't intend to layer this jacket with a size 'large'. this is not for women who are large on top. too bad they don't make an XL?

Comments about Merrell Marielle Shell Jacket - Women's - 2010 Closeout:
When I ordered this coat on line, I thought I had a good idea of what it would be like. But, I picked it up, I was very pleased of how nice it looked. I ordered the black coat, and it is hard to tell on line, but the pattern of black on black looks great and unusual. It is also very comfortable. I am very pleased, and believe it is a great deal.
