Comments about Thule T2 XTR - 2 Bike:
My wife and I purchased this rack for use on our Jeep and Dodge truck. We used our dividend and the 20% off coupon. Thank goodness for those because this thing has a large price tag. However, after doing my research, talking to friends, and holding all of the tray style mounts I could get my hands on this one won. The construction, locking mechanisms, design and easy of use seemed to me the best on the market. After I got it all set up, I had my wife load her bike and use all of the functions on her 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee--flawless!
I also really like the fact that spare (plastic) parts are readily available from Thule (and REI).
The only concerns I have with the rack are rusting and the additional price of adding 2 more bikes. The rack is made from steel which always rusts when used on the salt covered roads of Utah. And to add an additional tray (for 2 more bikes) you are looking at another hefty price tag. Obviously these concerns weren't enough to keep me from purchasing this rack because honestly it is a very nice easy to operate/install rack, and I have already recommended it many of my friends who were in need of racks.
Can't wait to take it down to the desert!

Great rack! Simple to use and secure. Love its ability to accommodate so many different bikes with no hassle of getting them on and off. Down part about the rack is putting it together was time consuming. I still would recommend this rack.

I have owned the older model t2 for 2+ years. It is a great design and super easy and fast to load and unload. I don't know why anyone would ever get a roof rack on a truck or suv when this hitch mounted rack is available. It's also nice because you can use it like a bench when the bikes are not loaded on it. CONS:Mine started rusting and I finally had to take it back because one of the arms started to rust through. [...] I tried to contact Thule and they did not respond to my email(not good). Hopefully the last one I had was a fluk and the new model will not have rust issues. Another CON was the security. The arm locks but it would be possible for someone to take the bike by taking the front wheel off. The NEW version has a locking cable so I will see how that works out.

Comments about Thule T2 XTR - 2 Bike:
My 29 inch mountain bike rear wheel hangs off the end of the rack. The rack is not made for large mountain bikes and I have not found any extension that thule makes. Also the new rear wheel lock down is hard to use. I prefer the old style that just spun around the wheel.

Once assembled the bike rack is easy to use. The only complaint is the rear tire strap is not permanently attached to the rack (while out on a ride one of my straps went missing, luckily they are only $5 to replace).

Comments about Thule T2 XTR - 2 Bike:
I purchased the two inch model. The hitch pin is a bolt and it does a good job of preventing the bike rack from moving side to side. But I had to put a shim in on the top of the rack's tongue where it enters the hitch to prevent up and down movement. If I hadn't put that shim in, it looked like the up and down movement of the rack would have loosened the bolt. The shim fixes the issue and the rack is now rock solid. To make the shim, I just cut a plastic shampoo bottle and doubled it up.

Comments about Thule T2 XTR - 2 Bike:
The bottom line is that this is a FANTASTIC rack system, and I HIGHLY recommend it. That said, here are two small issues I have experienced. First, the weight of the rack has negatively impacted my car's gas mileage and has made braking /handling more difficult, especially with bikes in the rack. I don't think this would be a problem with an SUV or another automobile with a beefy suspension, but I drive a Camry with 200k miles and a worn out suspension, and this rack has caused me to consider purchasing a new vehicle. The other minor issue is the difficulty of putting two MTBs on the rack. Occasionally, the seats and handlebars will interfere with each other, and I have to adjust the racks (w hex key) to make the bikes both fit. Other than these two small issues, this rack is AWESOME!!!

Great bike rack! Have recommend it to numerous friends and they all love it. My lastest T2 is beginning to have some arm issues not locking. Latch is not releasing but you just have to pull it back up. Rubber part of hitch release came off but I'll just glue it back on. Basically just a grip for the release.

Comments about Thule T2 XTR - 2 Bike:
I wondered if a hitch mount bike rack would be sturdy. This Thule rack is for a 2" hitch and once installed it is very solid. There is very little movement or shaking of the bike when driving down the road.
