Comments about Marmot Intervale Component 3-in-1 Jacket - Women's:
I bought this coat to replace the best coat in the world, so my standards are impossibly high.
I bought the Intervale to serve as a grown-up, city-living coat. It's working well for that. So far, I have primarily used the inner and outer components separately.
The outer shell is comfortable even in warmer weather (60s) as a rain jacket. It's roomy, but the cut is flattering because it nips in at the waist. It also holds up well to wind. The fabric is a little bit of an off-black, and has gotten more compliments than I expected for something that was just labeled "black".
The inner layer is cute - a big factor in choosing this coat. It's cut like a motorcycle jacket, and is flattering on my 5'3" frame. A taller girl might not like it as much.
I only have two complaints: First, the inner layer isn't very warm by itself. I can only tolerate about 45 degrees in the inner layer alone - a shame because I like the look of it so much. Second, when the coat is fully assembled and zipped all the way up, all of the zippers end up right in front of my mouth. While Marmot took care to cover the zippers with fabric, I don't want that between my mouth and a fist/tree branch/ski slope.
I don't have a good feel yet for how warm the coat is in very cold weather when it's all put together. It will certainly be adequate in North Carolina, but you may want to test it out in person if you're in a colder climate.

Comments about Marmot Intervale Component 3-in-1 Jacket - Women's:
I was kind of skeptical about the potential bulk of a 3-in-1, but honestly, it's awesome. Fits true to size and for the amount of layering it provides, it's light-weight. Great for hiking, walking, casual wear, etc.

Comments about Marmot Intervale Component 3-in-1 Jacket - Women's:
Kept me warm and dry while skiing in Nagano, Japan. Weather was cold with snow showers yet I returned to the lodge warm and dry. Wish I could say the same about my feet!
