The REI Stratocruiser 22 lets you enjoy the convenience of carry-on sized wheeled luggage with the stylish look, feel and flexible performance of a backpack. Detachable daypack extends versatility.

REI Stratocruiser 22 combines performance fabric, quality components and semi-structured construction to create a light, tough and flexible wheeled travel pack
Backpack-style shoulder straps store easily away with single zipper closure when not is use; top and side grab handles ease hauling
Rugged telescopic pull handle locks in up/down position; a soft-touch handle grip ensures comfort and control through the twists and turns of travel
Rugged wheels and housings provide durability and smooth wheeling for the long haul; kickstand lets you park Stratocruiser upright
Interior frame provides structure and upright stability for transport ease
Panel opening zipper provides easy access to main compartment; interior mesh pockets and compression straps provide packing convenience and organization
Main front zip pocket is roomy enough for a travel jacket; side stash pocket with elastic closure allows quick access to essentials
All exterior zippers can be secured with standard travel locks, sold separately
Accessory daypack quickly attaches for secure transport to either the front panel buckles or by sliding it over the telescoping handle of the main bag
Daypack has a main compartment, organizer panel and back panel security pocket; interior neoprene pocket fits digital e-books and most 13 in. laptops

I bought this for personal travel as well as for frequent week-long business trips. I just used it for a 9 day trip to Japan, and it was just perfect for me, a light packer who wanted to buy plenty of souvenirs! I took a large purse with bare essentials as my carry on, checked this pack, and left the daypack empty inside of the pack (with no need to sit on it to zip).The large pack held a pair of high heels, a pair of flats, and a pair of boots as well as all of my(rolled)clothing and toiletries with no problems.
I used the day-pack (I love the hidden pocket in the back!) as I explored during the day and it was really comfortable.
The thing I like the best about it was that once I had filled the day pack with souvenirs and it was time to leave, the day pack slides onto the long handle of the main pack - this is a must for those of us who use public transit and trains to get to the airport! My luggage was secure, not falling over, and easy to roll! It was also nice to know I could use the "backpack" feature on the big pack if I needed it. Once at the airport, I carried on the souvenir-laden day pack and purse and checked the big pack, though you could carry on both packs easily if you skip a purse/small personal item.
My only complaint is the lack of compression straps on the outside of the pack. The one at the bottom is really only meant to secure the daypack, and I like the security of having extra straps, so I will buy some. Cant wait to use this luggage on my business trips, when no purse is needed!

My wife and I purchased two of these for an 11 day trip accross Germany. We also used the eagle creek compression bags which gave us enough room for souvenirs. I especially like the removable back pack. We used these on our day excursions while leaving the larger bags at the train station. Best luggage available!

I liked the size and the option to use the wheels or the back pack straps. Especially traveling in Latin America. I used it as my only bag for a two week trip and it was great not to check in any bags, since it is small enough to use it as carry-on. The only thing missing was the hip support for a backpack that size, since you can loaded up.
