I really wanted to like this. It's comfortable and warm, although the fit is a little off; too long in the arms and torso for me, but otherwise ok. Now for the deal breaker. This fleece has an obnoxious chemical odor that I have not been able to wash out. I've never seen (or smelled!) anything like it. I've washed it three times; still obnoxious chemical odor. I certainly did not expect to have this kind of problem from a piece of clothing, especially something from REI.

I bought this fleece on sale for [$] and I have found it to be very comfortable and practical. It is great for layering in the cold especially under a windproof shell on gusty days. It can create static and collect lint if you don't watch out for that, but it is warm and has not produced any odd smells for me as it has for another customer. I am happy with the way it looks(I got the orangish one) and it works around town. It is not AS good as other more rugged fleeces made for the backcountry but it is soft and warm on the inside and does the job. It is a bit rough on the oustside and I wish it had come with a couple pockets but oh well. Its pretty good. Also, I'm 5'9'' and 170lbs- more muscle than fat(as an idea of body type) and the medium fits well.
