Water-resistant nylon/polyester/spandex blend withstands rugged use and remains windproof to 25 mph; because the fabric dries quickly, you won’t feel chilled or clammy
4-way-stretch fabric, articulated knees and center gusset let you move comfortably

I first used these pants as my outer layer on a winter camping trip, and they performed as I would've hoped. They fit over my base and mid layers without needing to size up. Having said that, you might want to consider sizing down if you won't be layering.

It may not be a big deal for some, but the waist is cut really high.

I first found these pants on REI.com through a search for tall / long women's pants, hoping to find some super-multi-funtional work pants. My job requires me to be in a variety of settings on any given day - from outside on jobsites, to meeting with clients, to attending board meetings, etc. These pants fit the bill on all accounts and transition very well from task to task. They receive compliments everywhere they go. I now have multiple pairs and they've become a staple item in my work attire. The gussetted crotch allows for extreme range of motion. The fabric is slightly stretchy, repels water and tends not to wrinkle. They're breathable enough to stay comfortable in the summer and, paired with leggings underneath, they're warm in the winter. They're also great for travel because they're so comfortable and pack easily. What I love the most about these pants is that they're appropriate for such a wide range of activities. Whether for tall, regular or petite lengths, these pants are highly recommened, especially for arborists, climbers, landscapers, gardeners, equestrians, etc. who require high-performance, casual-looking pants.
