The Völkl Aura skis work well if you're sticking to the groomed runs, but they are ideal if you find yourself switching between groomed runs and off-piste terrain

Comments about Volkl Aura Skis - Women's - 2010/2011:

This is the second Volkl Aura that I have owned, and it does not disappoint. It is one of the most powerful, capable skis on the market for strong female skiers. It is truly an all-mountain ski: fun and floaty in powder, good edge-hold in icy conditions, nimble enough in bumps, nice and stable at speed with no chatter. I clicked on "heavy" as a con in my review, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The weight is partly what lends this ski its stability, dampness, and smooth ride in a wide variety of conditions.
The Aura is sold as a flat (non-integrated) ski, and I have put telemark bindings on mine, but one is free to mount the ski with their choice of binding.

This is definitely a ski for a strong intermediate to advanced level skier. The combination of width underfoot, relative stiffness, and weight would be a bit overpowering for many beginning skiers, but the rewards are huge for stronger, more aggressive folk.

This is the ski I take when I'm not sure what the snow will be like, or I know that conditions are apt to change over the course of a day on the hill. It is truly a "quiver of one" and an all-around great ski!

Great all around ski. Was a little nervous about the weight (i went from 154 to 163) but actually turned out for the better. They do not chatter at all and you don't even notice when you're riding on ice. No need to lean back when going through powder either. These skis handle it all AND look good. I recommend these to any intermediate to advanced skier!

I've used these in all conditions, and they're a great all-around ski for the Pacific Northwest. Not the best in deep powder but it really can go everywhere. I bought them untested, based on positive reviews, and I'm very happy. They felt perfect right from the get-go.
