Comments about Patagonia Triolet Jacket - Women's:
I ride my bike everyday in Seattle, so I really needed a rain jacket that would keep me dry and address my specific needs of a cyclist. I purchased the Patagonia Torrentshell last year and loved it as a simple rain shell, but I really needed something more protective, so I purchased this jacket.
As a cyclist, I need something that is long in the back and sleeves, breathable, and extremely waterproof. This jacket fits all of those needs. The longer back and sleeves prevent gapping and exposed skin when I lean forward on my bike, so I stay dry. The long armpit zippers give me the ventilation in need when going up those steep Seattle hills. Finally, this coat keeps me incredibly dry. The rain just rolls right off in the heaviest of downpours. The coat zips up high on my chin too, so I can keep the water from coming in through the top. Probably one of the coolest things about this jacket is the size of the hood. It is actually large enough to put over my bicycle helmet, and it adjusts really easily.
I typically wear to large waterproof backpack on my bike too, and the pocket placement of this jacket works perfectly with that. Usually the chest and waste straps of my backpack rest right on jacket pockets, but these pockets are placed to be accessible even with a pack on.
I have also worn this jacket hiking in the snow, rowing, and sledding, and it has kept me wonderfully dry!
As someone else noted, the jacket itself is a bit stiff, but that is expected with something so waterproof, and it as loosened up a bit since I first purchased it.
