Comments about Patagonia Tres Down Jacket - Women's:
It has only been cold enough to wear this jacket with both layers in San Diego a couple of times at night...and it has been a pretty cold San Diego winter, and I am always cold! So at home I mostly wear the inner layer. It did keep me cozy and warm on the East Coast in Mid-December, so that is great! For me...that made this jacket worth the money. There are however a couple of things that I have found disappointing...or at least strange.
1. Way too many feathers are coming out of the inner lining! I have a down vest from REI, and occasionally I see a feather peeking through...with this jacket I see little white tufts sticking out in quite a few places. And even little bits of fluff flying about my head. Enough that friends have noticed and remarked.
2. I am usually a small or xsmall, but since I wanted to be able to layer bulky clothes I went with a med. The small would have probably fit, but not over a thick wool sweater, etc. The inner layer fits reasonably well, but I can't wear just the shell as it is too big and droopy looking...so my jacket is a 2-in-one.
3. This I just find a bit odd...but I don't have much experience with rain-coats in S.D. When I have worn the shell in the rain, it IS waterproof, but the water doesn't seem to just roll off like on my daughters rain coat...the raindrops stay in millions of tiny little silver beads all over the jacket until the beads get big enough to drip...or I jump up and down. (Which my daughter finds hilarious) I'm not sure if that is normal.
Overall, I think it's a really warm jacket...worn with layers, it was warm enough to let me comfortably walk around outside when it was in the 30's. I find the jacket stylish enough to wear to the office over business casual clothing. I just wish Patagonia would have used a fabric that was a bit more feather-proof. At this price I am hoping that this jacket lasts me for years. But at this rate I am wondering how long it will take for it to go flat.
I would recommend it to a friend with reservations.

Comments about Patagonia Tres Down Jacket - Women's:
This was very expensive, which is the only draw back. I wanted something for the Maryland winters that are not usually freezing cold, but cold enough. I like the fact that the lining comes out for use as a down sweater and the shell can be used as a windbreaker or raincoat. It zips together neatly. I can clean the shell separately, so I think that should preserve the down. This coat is probably not warm enough for extreme cold.

Comments about Patagonia Tres Down Jacket - Women's:
I spent a lot of time researching and am so happy I decided on this jacket. First, it's stylish and fitted - which is impressive for a warm winter coat. Second, it's from a fantastic company that I trust and respect. Third, not only is it functional for the outdoors, but it looks nice enough to wear to work with dress clothes (and that applies to all three ways you can wear it).
A three-in-one coat that is the best of all worlds! I'm very happy with my decison and it was worth the money (which was why I researched so much first).

Comments about Patagonia Tres Down Jacket - Women's:
I am 5'2", petite. I bought this jacket in X-small first. It fits well over a t-shirt or a very light sweater, but looks bulky and constrains movement somewhat over a heavier sweater. The sleeves were slightly too long as well. I then ordered a Small. The body fit better this time, but the sleeves are way too long.
The jacket is simple and looks good for urban living. It also seems to have high quality. Unfortunately both will be going back due to poor fit.
