Comments about Scotchgard Durable Water Repellent Spray:

SAVE YOUR MONEY - ScotchGuard used to make a decent aerosol water proofer for clothes. They discontinued it and brought out this one...and it is worthless!!

First of all it is toxic and the label warns not to touch it or breathe it. Then after spraying it you put it in the dryer for 60 minutes rendering your dryer toxic. OK that is bad enough but we applied three treatments to each coat and then placed in the dryer ( after the instructed washing of garments).

We went out in a light Portland drizzle the next morning and there was zero water beading - my shoulders were saturated and so was most of my wife's coat and hat. Before we washed the coats there was some water repellent and after the washing and treatment with this product there was none.

I called 3M and got a total song and dance - 20 questions if we had done it correctly and 40 excuses. Thank God REI has a great return policy!!
