my wife found this on a visit to REI where it was on the close out rack @ 50% off with a extra $20 coupon :), She is petite and finding items that fit is a challenge.
She wears it hiking, and to and from the office. It is light and provides good room for layering if needed. Shes says that the color is a fantastic purple, overall, this has become her favorite jacket in moderate temps for just about any outdoor activity. Her camelback is a good fit when wearing it with this jacket.

I love wearing this rainjacket. The material is wonderful and doesn't make a crinkly noise when you walk. The material feels soft but it keeps out the rain very well. I bought a size up because I wanted to have lots of room to wear sweaters etc. under it. It has nice pockets and zippered one inside the jacket.
I like the drawstring around the waist--I can adjust it depending on what I am wearing underneath it. The jacket is also nice and long. It is the best rainjacket I have ever owned --and it is just fun to wear.

I love this jacket! I've worn it on long walks during rainstorms, with the ample yet comfortable hood up, and remained completely protected from the rain. I also enjoy it as an all-purpose jacket for cool weather, and it is roomy enough that I can layer a very lightweight jacket or several warm layers under it for really seriously cold weather. I bought a size large despite the fact that I'm an average-sized woman so that I'd have that option, and because I like my clothes to be a bit on the roomy side, as a rule. So, for versatility, comfort, great design and durability, I honestly can't imagine a better buy. I bought this jacket in a light olive color, so it's very casual. In a darker color it could also work as a somewhat dressier jacket, to go to dinner at a nice restaurant, to the theatre, etc. It's simply wonderful!

This jacket is very comfortable. It has performed well when I used it for a long walk in the rain: I was happy with the combination of waterproofness and breathability, and it is also windproof.
I also find the style attractive. The jacket fits nicely over a couple of light layers. Although the style is casual, it has the advantage of being long enough to go over a suit jacket, so can be used as an emergency raincoat (e.g., during professional travel).

I literally read dozens of reviews on this site and many competitors before I decided on this jacket. I bought one from a competitor which I had to return because it lacked several of the factors I am about to review. I bought this jacket primarily for walking my dog in the rain. I haven't had a chance to try it in the rain yet, so I cannot comment on the waterproof factor. I live in Southern California and except for the coldest days, I can get away with wearing just this jacket with a long sleeved tee shirt underneath. It is comfortably roomy, however, so that I can wear a heavier sweater if I needed to and still not look like a puffy snowman. I like that this jacket has snaps instead of velcro along the front. The zipper is a two-way zipper to provide more comfort when sitting down. I am 5' tall, 103 lbs. and ordered the XS. The sleeves are a little long on me since it is not petite sizing, but I can adjust that with the velcro on the wrists. I was looking for a longer overall length - it is probably longer on me than most people (halfway down my thighs) but I like that it will keep my bottom warm and dry. The inside zippered pocket with headphone opening is very handy because I listen to a podcast as I am walking. I like that all the pockets have zippers. The hood fits nicely on my head -long enough to keep off the rain, but not so oversized that it hangs down to my nose and impedes my vision. It is very lightweight and crushable so I'll probably take it traveling instead of my heavier raincoat. The elastic adjustment on the waist gives it a nice shape. The overall shape is straight and flattering, not winging out on the bottom like a bell. A few minor suggestions: Like others have commented, I would also buy one with a warmer lining, detachable or not. It would be nice to be able to detach the hood. Also, a choice of more colors would be wonderful as well. I got the indigo which is like a light navy, only because I'm tired of all my jackets being black.

I'm 5'9" tall weighing about 135. The size medium jacket has a nice fitted look and feel on my frame with a little room for an extra layer. There is nice coverage on the thighs and the light to medium weight is good for northern California weather.

I purchased this jacket one size larger to be able to wear bulky sweaters underneath for warmth. In my usual size, it would have been true to fit. It isn't lightweight; there is some warmth to it. On its own, it would be ideal for spring and fall weather. However, as it is one size larger, I can (and have) wear it comfortably while playing in the snow, with appropriate layers underneath. The extra small features REI built in (like the well designed hood, the easy to snap snaps and the weather-protected, easy to zip zippers) all make me happy every time I wear it. Regarding style, it's slightly longer to keep you well-protected, but not so long that it limits mobility (with or without the reverse zipper.) The internal elasticized waistband gives it a very nice shape, allowing a woman to have a figure and not feel like she's wearing a trash bag. It was a fantastic purchase, and I am very pleased with it.

I wanted something that I could layer, that was waterproof and windproof yet still lightweight. My volunteer work involves being out in the cold and wet a lot. I found the perfect jacket, plus, it goes to about mid thigh and keeps my legs dryer even if I'm not wearing rain pants. I'm not a camper or heavy outdoorsy type person but I think this would be a great jacket for that too. I bought a size Med, I'm 5'4" and can easily layer this jacket.

This is a favorite jacket, very functional and yet so stylish that I have received many compliments, including being asked where I bought it. I have it in black and would really like to buy another in the rust color. I sometimes walk in areas with hunters so am really hoping that it will be offered again in a rust color! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this jacket.
