Bring your outdoor toys along! The Hurricane Santee 116 kayak features a large cockpit, a versatile design and sleek looks.

  • Trylon thermoformed ABS plastic hull material is stiff and light like traditional composite kayaks and offers similar looks, but it costs considerably less
  • Crisp entry lines, excellent stability, and responsive turning make the Santee 116 an outstanding boat for all-around use
  • Deck has been redesigned from previous models, resulting in improved looks and an even more responsive ride
  • Large cockpit opening facilitates gear storage—an extra cooler, a large dry bag or a midsized, 4-legged paddling companion can come for the ride
  • Adjustable seat back ensures a comfortable experience in the cockpit; simply pull seat back forward to unlock, adjust, and push back to relock
  • Rear deck security bar makes it easy to lock up the Santee 116 with a cable lock (not included)
  • Storage areas on the side of the seat hold beverages and small items such as lip balm, sunscreen and a safety whistle
  • Stern deck rigging keeps extra gear within easy reach, and bulkheaded stern and bow with watertight hatches keeps items dry
  • Toggled carry handles ease transport to the water

Comments about Hurricane Kayaks Santee 116 Kayak:

Nine years ago I bought two...one for my wife and one for me. We've traveled rivers & ocean (coastal) with these and have had a blast. I am planning a 60 mile river trip. I've loaned it out and have seen people drop heavy objects on it, all causing absolutely NO DAMAGE whatsoever. This kayak is tough and great for beginners.

Comments about Hurricane Kayaks Santee 116 Kayak:

I purchased a Hurricane Santee 11.6 Sport five years ago. The Trylon finish is very shiny and I always get compliments on the boat. Mine has the aft hatch as displayed and a watertight compartment in the forward bulkhead as well were I store two folding seats (also purchased at REI) and some rope. Could easily get a small tent forward as well, though I have only used my boat for day use. This boat tracks well and moves quicker and with less effort that most other kayaks. Seems to draw less water too. The only con might be that the Trylon does scratch when hitting bottom and it is considerablely more noticeable than on rotomold kayaks. You will likely not be tossing other kayaks on it either. I believe that Hurricane has improved their seat design since I purchased my Santee. The only issue I have had was a foot peg broke after five years and after contacting Hurricane, I was sent two replacement pegs within days, never missed a stoke! Overall I am very pleased with my Santee and four of my friends have purchased a Santee after trying mine.
