    I first purchased my usual size at REI. I had to return the three pair of shorts and order one size larger. These fit now. Love,the fabric and all the pockets. They will be perfect for travel to Greece and all the walking I must do in the humid climate.
    They will dry in no time at all. Plus they hardly weigh anything and will pack down in my suitcase.

    The comments others have said about fit are true so I ordered a size up, and yes the waist is big and it's snugger in the the hip so I am glad I did. I thought I was going to need a belt (and knew that based on the other reviews) BUT What I found though, is in the waistband there is a button on each side of the zipper and an elastic strap to adjust the waist. THIS IS BRILLIANT. (its in the description above but I missed it.) Waist fits, hip fits. NICE touch. MY only small complaint is that it fits super comfy through the hip and thigh but the stomach/crotch area is big, but that's because I am rear heavy not tummy heavy I think. Over all I think this fits well. will but more. Thanks to the other commenters. And ditto, wish plus size was available in stores!

      I am always thrilled when I can find something that fits well from REI. I am an 18W and so much of REI is geared for a smaller person. These shorts fit great and were just what I need for hiking in China this spring. I would love it if REI had more travel clothes for the active plus size woman.

      I had such hopes for these shorts. I ordered 3 pair. They all were in the size that I wear from REI. The waist on these shorts was big and then it went in at the hip on all three pair. Sadly I had to return them all. I now will try to order another 3 pair but this time I will order a size up from what I wear. Other than the fit; I thought the shorts were really great. I do wish Plus sizes were available in the store.

      I purchased 3 pair of Sahara Shorts. I already own 2 pair of the Convertible Zip Pants and 1 pair of Capris. I ordered the same size, 20 W as the 3 pair of REI brand I own. To my surprise the shorts fit very strangely. The waist fit just OK; but then the shorts went in by the pockets. It was like they had been taken in at the hip/pocket area on all 3 pair. I returned them to the store and now will order one size up. I do not want a tight, chafing pair of shorts when walking or hiking on trips. My advice is to order up one size. I wish Plus Sizes were available in the store.
