The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Hot Apple Cobbler - 2 Servings:
Yeah, I have to agree with everyone, that this is not the easiest to prepare. It also lacks good taste, has a weird texture...i dunno.
I gave it 2 stars because in a survival situation you could still benefit from it and it would still give you some kind of energy, nutrients, etc...

We had our campfire going one night so thought we would give this a try. I would NOT want to burn up the fuel needed to do this over a stove given the long cook time. This dessert is ok as long as you don't think of it as apple cobbler. Tasted a little more like cinnamon apples with spongy cake on top. I am not really sure it was worth all the effort.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Hot Apple Cobbler - 2 Servings:
I bought this, thinking it would be a quick and easy "just add hot water" dessert like mountain house, that I could take camping. But I got home and read the instructions, and was surprised at how complicated they were to understand. Its a good thing I didn't wait until I was in the field. Anyway I kinda winged it, and I guess it would not have tasted bad if I had cooked it longer. As it was it still had some bits of apple that weren't yet re-hydrated. I've tried four different Backpacker's Pantry meals: Kung pao chicken, Mexican Beans and Rice, Huevos Ranchero, and Hot Apple Cobbler. The only one I enjoyed was the excellent Beans and Rice. I'm no cook. Its gotta be fast and easy if I'm gonna take it along.

You've got to prepare the topping on VERY low heat. Only add the very small amount of water called for to the crust mix, and cook it on the stove on top of the apple with your camp stove on the lowest possible setting. It rises nices and tastes good.

Tried to make this on 3 different occasions. Each time, it was a waste. If you really want dessert when camping, go with the Mocha Mousse or just pack ur own. I can't see how this would be possible to make while camping. We also tried to make this at home, and it just didn't turn out. What a disappointment.

Tried this car camping. Made a gooey mess of my pot. I didn't think you could screw this up but the flavor was off. It was just kind of sweet. The weird batter stuff that you put on top as spongey, flavorless and gross. threw most of it out.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Hot Apple Cobbler - 2 Servings:
I tried the apple cobbler out in my kitchen at home, and boy am I glad I did. I am throughly surprised at how awful it was. I'm sure that if I was on the tail end of a hike, and starving, that I would have enjoyed this more. I may have cooked this wrong, other reviews will provide insight on that. The flavor was decent. Texture, not so much. Save yourself some time and pack poptart, small apple pie, or even a hostess apple pie!
