I love this product. It is simple easy to use. The only trouble was that my dog is a medium size 50lb dog, but he is very fit and skinny. The small was too small and the medium was too big. I got the medium size and put it as tight as they would go and it fit well but then there in four inches of straps left over. I ended up cutting the strap short because he continued to trip over them. Other than that it is a great product.

This is our first pack for a dog. It seems to get the job done in a simple but versatile way. We chose this model over the REI brand because it was the same price but had more do-dads. This model has a bungy on the top that we used for strapping down used poop bags, holding the leash, clip on the foldable water bowl, or holding the map. There is also a small zipper pocket inside perfect for holding treats, food, pens, or other widgets you want your pooch to carry. The only down side is that the clasp to hook the lead is plastic and broke on the first hike. Not from excessive pulling but just because it's plastic. We replaced it with a metal key ring, easy fix, works fine. The handle on the top is great for helping the dog up and down steep inclines or steps. There are just as many straps on this one as another so I didn't mind them, they all tighten easily.

We have a 55lbs black lab mix and were advised to get the medium size, because that's exactly who it's designed for. But since our dog is very slender and tall it was too big and we had to take it back for the small. This one is perfect for our dog and the collapsable sides really help keep the weight next to the body so it doesn't flop around. I'd recommend getting the platypus bladders for water so half full bottles don't slush around and throw pooch off balance.

Summary: Good price, simple use, weak plastic lead hook easy to replace.
