I use these for paddling white water. I frequent a white water park near my house that is a quater mile long, and these consistently get walked long distances in. No gripes yet. They keep my feet nice and warm and have good grip. Great buy, great price.

My wife and I both run in Vibram FiveFingers (VFF)or barefoot and had to have something warmer for our toes in the winter. She tried the Merrell's with Goretex but they hurt her on the side somewhere so she had to return them. For this winter we've settled on neoprene kayaking shoes, these specifically. I couldn't do long runs below about 33F in leather VFF's w/ wool toe socks without early frostbite on some toes but in the neoprene with wool boot socks I've pushed it to 30F and my feet were very warm. For a minimalist runner these are fine, maybe even more cushioning than we're used to. I did 7 miles Christmas Eve in them and it was below freezing. I'm hoping to keep going as low as it gets here in central Illinois, usually no more than 10-15F. I'll have more to report later in the season!

I agree with Bobber1 that they are made for square toes and you need to go up a size.
Hey NRS--How about changing your sizing designations so instead of customers having to step up a size, they can buy their actualy shoe size and have it fit properly?

Prior to this I had a pair of high ankle Keen booties that I loved which aren't made anymore.

I was looking for something flexible enough to fit in my playboat and these looked like they'd fit the bill. I didn't have the luxury of trying these out before I bought them.

These fit ok at home, but once I was out walking around in them, my big toe was not happy. If you look at a picture from above or below, you'll see these shoes were made for people with square feet, or people with no big toe. Had I tried these out in a store, I might have gone up a size and this might not have been an issue for me.

The other problem, though, is I ended up donating some skin from the back of my heel. My guess is from the bungee. Again, I've never had a low cut bootie before, so maybe this is common with all of them, and I just need to find a higher cut bootie.

If you have more skin on the back of your heel, or if you go with a bigger size, you might like these shoes a lot. The quality isn't bad, I'm sure they will last... but I'm not a fan of the design.

This my second season in Outrigger Canoe (OC-6) competition on the west coast where we recently refurbished our OC-6's with new foot grip in the boats. Well... the grip is rubbing us raw, saw some people wearing different versions lately, and went to REI to try a few on. These fit great, not too much, not too little, the waters are still cold in pre-season in San Diego, and they definitely kept my feet warm. They are also comfortable out of the boat. I havn't swam with them yet (havn't flipped the boat), so don't know how they'll handle treading water. So far, amazingly happy. They don't drain (hold water), but that hasn't bother me at all. Good shoes overall.
