Comments about The North Face Varius Guide Rain Jacket - Women's:
This is a great jacket for snow, and rain. One of my favorite features is that zip-in feature. I love that I can use this as a light raincoat, or zip in a fleece and use it as a winter/snow coat. It is very waterproof and windproof, but needs a fleece for warmth during the cold months (and is perfect as is for the warmer weather!). My only complaint, is the zippers seem to catch a lot. I have had this problem with almost every raincoat ever though so it could be me, or simply could be the way raincoats are made. Other than that, I really love it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes to hike in the rain. Its lightweight and very easy to pack, but also can double as a warmer coat with a fleece underneath! Great buy, almost like a 2-in-1!

Comments about The North Face Varius Guide Rain Jacket - Women's:
I bought this jacket for my wife and she absolutely loves it. What makes this jacket great is that it's completely water and windproof. The jacket alone is nice a light and great for temps around 40-50 degree. Anything colder would require at least a fleece zipped in. When it gets colder than 35 degrees, she zips in a Denali jacket which converts it to a borderline extreme weather jacket. I even bought one for myself once I saw how great it was. We are VERY happy with our purchase.

Comments about The North Face Varius Guide Rain Jacket - Women's:
I ordered this jacket online and am trying to decide whether to keep it. My two issues are: (1) It seems heavier than most shells, perhaps because of the windskirt, which doesn't seem very necessary and (2) I can't figure out whether the hood rolls up and stores in the neckline of the jacket when I don't want to use it. Does anyone know if the hood can be rolled up instead of detached completely? Thank you REI patrons!

Comments about The North Face Varius Guide Rain Jacket - Women's:
This jacket is exactly what I was hoping for. I have worn it almost everyday since I purchased it. I was nervous about throwing it in the wash (much needed after a fishing trip), but it came out looking and smelling great. Like most Northface gear you can zip in a fleece for colder weather which is great. As is, it's perfect for warm and cool weather. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone.

Comments about The North Face Varius Guide Rain Jacket - Women's:
This jacket had everything I was looking for in a shell for snowboarding: it's windproof and waterproof, it has a snow skirt, and has pit zips. The hood is nice and does fit over my helmet (just barely), but it's not something I use often, so it's nice that it also zips off.I prefer the Napoleon pocket style from lat year over the chest pocket they've put on this year's model. With the way it's built, it's a little awkward to shove your hand into the pocket while you're wearing it.I chose this jacket over similar styles from Patagonia and Marmot primarily because the sleeve length was advertised as being a bit longer on The North Face jacket. It does seem to run a bit longer than my old Marmot shell, but I still wish the sleeves were still another inch longer--though I have long arms, so you may think differently. This jacket also offers zip-in compatibility, but surprisingly, not all TNF mid-weight jackets are compatible. I bought a TNF Apex Bionic jacket thinking the zippers would match, but they didn't. On the other hand, both my REI Windbrake Thermal vest and my REI Radiance down vest are compatible with this jacket--bonus! You'll find that jackets that have the larger-style zippers will be compatible with this shell. The only problem I have found with this jacket is that the exterior front zipper can be a bit finicky. Sometimes I have to jiggle the zipper and reseat the head to get it to zip properly. I'm hoping that this can be remedied with some wax on the zipper tracks, but it's a minor inconvenience--though one that shouldn't exist on a [$] jacket, in my opinion.
