The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid/Touring Bike Fenders - 45mm:
I bought these to put on an older bike. The brakes would not allow for the use of these fenders. I had old narrower fenders but wanted to put wider tires for heavy touring. Old campy brakes would not clear the fenders. Wah.

Comments about Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid/Touring Bike Fenders - 45mm:
I've been absolutely delighted with these fenders. They fit my Kona Dew Plus hybrid like they were designed for it. I was able to install the fenders in a relaxed-pace hour. They are rock-solid with no rattle whatsoever. I often forget they are there.
If I could change one thing, I would add a little bit more (lower) coverage in front. My bottom bracket still gets mud on it and I have to wipe it off once a week to keep it clean. I see now why avid wet-weather commuters frequently tack on another piece of rubber, leather, or plastic to the bottoms of their fenders.

Comments about Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid/Touring Bike Fenders - 45mm:
Bought these for my wife's hybrid for the sloppy spring weather. Thought we would take them off for the coming summer but they don't rattle, are really not that noticeable so assuming they handle a crosswind when put on a bike rack when we travel they will stay on permanently. My wife doesn't like to get dirty so these will help in all seasons now. Solid buy.Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that I think they should give longer screws in case you are going through the fender braces and a rear rack as I had to. Luckily I had some longer screws around.

Have to say, it fits my bike like a glove. Prior to buying these, I bought a different kind from a Bicycle "expert" on the sunshine bike store. It was garbage and ended up removing it and picking the new pair from REI. The new fenders feel and look very good on my bike.

Comments about Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid/Touring Bike Fenders - 45mm:
I bought these for my commuter, a vintage Mercian touring bike with 27x1.25 Weinman wheels. I have center pull brakes on it and Blackburn racks front and back and frame was pre-configured for old Blumels fenders. I was nervous about fit, given the age of my bike (custom built in mid 80's).
These fit well and went on with a minimum of fuss. The instructions were actually fine for me and I appreciated Planetbike's minimal packaging. I didn't end up using their bolts as I prefer using bolts that utilize an allen wrench (more convenient to carry) instead of a phillips head screwdriver. A nut driver, socket wrench and ratcheting box wrench (all 10 mm) and allen wrench were all helpful in installation. The only issue with the design was the bracket on front fender that mounted to the center of the fork. When slid upward for maximum clearance, the lower top tube bearing race interfered with the bracket but the metal on the the mount was flexible enough to bend when the nut was tightened- so, no problem in installation. I expected to have to improvise more than it turned out, anyway.
They look great.
Too soon to tell about adjustment. Clearance was fine for me. We'll see if it holds.

Great fenders! I have planet bike fenders on all my bikes, and these are the best out there. I like being able to easily attach and detach fender for transport, and these hit the mark. I tried some SKS fenders, and they need to be bent too much to accommodate my Orbea Carpe. The fenders are a bit bulky, I should have bought the smaller ones, but I am always dry.
Service and delivery comments:
As always REI delivers quickly. I am stationed overseas and have never had any issues. I only wish they had an REI nearby to check out the newest gear!

Comments about Planet Bike Hardcore Hybrid/Touring Bike Fenders - 45mm:
I have a Surly Long Haul Trucker touring bike, and these fenders do provide excellent protection and at least on the Surly, were easy to install. A persistent problem occurs, however, when on groomed unpaved trails and rail trails, such as the C&O Canal toe path or the GAP. These trails often have some rough spots and the vibration causes the fenders (especially the front) to crack at the front mounting bracket rivets, eventually causing that portion of the fender ahead of the bracket to break off. I cannot count on getting more than 200-300 miles out of them in these conditions. That being said, they seem to work just fine on paved roads. I am going to have to find another brand or try drilling out the rivets and putting a curved piece of aluminum flashing under the mounting area and see if this helps.

I commute on my Trek FX 7.3 bike, 8 miles one way over paved and unpaved roads. I needed a set of fenders that would keep the mud, dirt and water away from bike and me.I settled on these fenders, after striking out with another set of fenders. Planet bike offers 3 fenders models tailored to different tire width so knowing your tire width is a must to picking right fender. Picking correct fender will not save you from possible installation woes. For me this meant going to [@] to buy shorter bolt for front fender, removing two support spokes from rear fender and using plastic strap instead of clip to attach the end of the fender to the bike. Considering that there are no industry wide standards that every manufacturer follows for fenders, the installation process was passable and took no more than 30 minutes.I am happy with end results. The fenders look nice, keep me dry and bike clean. Riding on unpaved road I didn't notice any noise, rubbing of vibration. So I would recommend these fenders to anyone with a hybrid bike.

The instructions for the fenders where useless. They tell you to do a lot but show you little in the form of illustration. Also if you have a kickstand in the bike it might not lock in place properly as it requires the hook that is located where a standard kickstand would go. After an intense effort I managed to get it to fit relatively securely to the bike. Because of how the brackets hold the fender a large bump can knock them out of the housing. Overall the fenders are of decent quality. For the average rider I would recommend these. They are reasonably priced, but don't expect the instructions to help you much.

Easy to install and very tough. The plastic is made very strong and will not crack if you take a spill. I have three sets, two 45mm and one 35mm and they are all great. Not sure what the problem was with the other reviewer's bike, but the instructions are straight forward and there really isn't anything to mess up.
