by fromGreat pack, room for improvement I have had this pack on two trips now and found that the pack is a really well built pack. I love the rain fly built in so much that I find I will never purchase a pack again without one. The Osprey name is the reason I purchased this pack, their warranty is bar none. I travel a lot for work and other packs that did not have pockets for my laptop did ok but I could not fit much in them. This pack makes up for that, there is plenty of room for my large 17" engineering laptop plus my iPad and all the rest of my gear for traveling. Cons: The water bottle pockets are VERY loose and hard to hold a water bottle. Once I get all my gear in the pack is quite heavy and I can not carry the weight on my hips like I would like to due to the fact there is no wide hip belt, instead all it has is a position belt to keep the pack close to your back. This would be the perfect all around pack if it had a wide hip belt that I could use to take the weight off my shoulders. The only other problem I have been having lately (don't know if it is just my pack or not) is the shoulder straps loosen on their own so everytime I put the pack on I have to readjust one of the shoulder straps, this has been very anoying. All in all this is a very well put together pack, the type of quality I have come to expect from Osprey, but there is room for improvement.

by fromGreat pack I use this pack daily, and while I purchased it with the intent to start cycle commuting, forces beyond control have me still in my car. Regardless, the pack has served wonderfully to haul my 15" MacBook Pro, assorted cables and cords, notebook, and other office miscellany to work as well as cross-country on several business trips. I know it will only work that much better on the bike!

by fromGreat cycling backpack Very spacious commute back pack. My MacBook Pro 15" fits without any problem plus a lot of other things. My only wish is for it to have a place to put a water bottle or my tea mug.

by fromPack Covers All Bases The difference between my old two section Beaver Tail Style backpack to this one is like night and day and a huge improvement. The expansion zipper allows me to make the pack large enough for towels, shoes and clothes on Monday and then shrink back to everday bike commuting use the rest of the week. I love the front strap pockets although the pockets were not designed with a rectangular iPhone in mind although it does fit. I think an Android phone might be a stretch. The key ring pull inside one of them is a great idea. It's nice to have the pockets and zippers instead of digging through one big open chamber. I can actually find the lights, knife, keys, badge, etc that I stashed away without dumping half the pack out as I did before. I have found the side pocket zippers require two hands to work but that is a minor problem. All in all this a great bike commuting pack.

by fromPerfect carry-all for commuter I have to commute with a full set of clothing, a laptop computer, and miscellaneous small items like scissors, pens, etc. This backpack lets me carry it all in one bag. I can put papers along with my laptop in the separate laptop compartment, and they won't be wrinkled. Unlike many similar backpacks of similar volume, this one is not very thick (front to back), so it is much more comfortable to wear on a bicycle. The rain cover is also useful. Also, it is a nice color. It is very comfortable, even when relatively heavily packed. One thing I wish it had is a water bottle holder. It has small zipper pockets on the sides, but they do not work particularly well for a water bottle. Also, the zippers can be a little difficult to pull due to their angle (they seem to be high quality zippers, but, presumably for waterproofing reasons, the angle at which they are installed makes them a little awkward). These are very minor cons; I am very happy with this pack.

by fromOsprey Momentum 34 Very nice commuter style pack. Features of this pack have been well thought out. If you pack anything in the side pockets that is around the size of a bar of soap it takes up space from the interior of the pack. Nice durable light weight material. I like the fact that you have the option to tuck the straps away and zip them up. Lots of interior pockets. Laptop sleeve will accommodate a 17" Macbook Pro that is stored inside a neoprene case. Room in the main compartment for a change of clothes and some small electronic items. This is a great pack for commuting and for daytrips. I have the Bamboo color and many people comment on this stylish pack made by Osprey. I would like Osprey to make a slightly larger version of this bag in a 40 Liter size.

by fromGreat pack I own many Osprey packs (which I always recommend to my friends) but I think this is my favorite of them all. I began bike commuting this year and purchased an Osprey Manta 30 pack. Though it is great for biking, and its hydration pack is a life saver on long rides, it was too narrow to hold everything I was interested in taking with me (like my 15" laptop). The Momentum 34 was the perfect replacement. Its laptop sleeve is just the right size and is very secure (I accidentally left the laptop sleeve zipper open during a ride and nothing even moved within the pack). The expansion panel is perfect for times when you need to stash some extra gear, yet with the compression straps the momentum can collapse down to a fairly small size. The only aparent downside to this pack is its water bottle pockets. When the pack is full they aren't able to hold too much, and a nalgene is too large to fit comfortably within the pocket. If you're not carrying a laptop, however, I imagine the laptop compartment would be great in holding one of Osprey's hydration packs. Beyond the small issue of the small water bottle pockets, this is one of the best packs I've ever owned, bar none. Osprey even thinks of the little things, like the rain cover for when you've gotta go out into nasty weather. A+.

by fromBetter than Panniers IMO I like to ride well prepared for disaster on long rides. I bring a decent assortment of tubes, tools, locks and clothing. I prefer to carry my gear on my back rather than using panniers and other seat bags etc. The only drawback is sweat in the summertime. The load seems lighter in a backpack and keeps the bike nimble. I have not tried to put my laptop in the bag yet, but looks like it will fit most sizes except the largest entertainment laptops. I used the bladder from my old camelbak and put it in the strap stowage pocket and it worked just fine. I got the larger size and like all the pockets and features including the lock pocket, the rain fly, the light loop at the bottom for a battery powered flasher. The shoulder strap pockets could be a bit lower on the strap as they hit me at about the collar bone. The pockets are nice for keys and the keychain is awesome. The pockets are too small for a smart phone, so that is one of my few disappointments. I am a bigger framed guy, so the shoulder straps could be a little more like a camping grade harness, but it works and will fit 80% of the people who use this pack. The straps allow for secure load carrying. could also be used as a day hike hydration pack if you improvise a little. Overall a great pack. Combined with a dividend and 20% off one item I got a great deal on this pack.
