Fitting an Electra bike is easy. Start by setting the saddle to its lowest position and then stand over it with both feet flat on the ground. Next, simply raise the saddle until it rests in the crotch. Tighten it in place, and that's it— you're done! After an initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Electra Crusier 1 Bike - 2011:

The gearing of this bike is quite low at about 42", but this is easily fixed by changing the rear sprocket. A 17 tooth sprocket will give you a 55" gear, and a 14 tooth sprocket will give you a 67" gear. These are more usable and provide more speed except in hilly areas. This bike also is IDEAL for motorizing (gas engine in frame especially). Just add engine and a good front brake!

This bike is perfect for a run to the coffee shop or an easy cruise around the 'hood with the kiddies. It is almost impossible to go fast on this bike due to the very low gearing. Granny gear all the way. Still, if you are not in a hurry this is a great simple bike.

Comments about Electra Crusier 1 Bike - 2011:

Sometimes, I need to do some local errands and clipping into my aggressive bikes seems too bothersome. This bike is perfect to roll down to the local market, the near by cafe, or the beach. It's not fast but it's a very comfortable ride.

What's really great about the bike is that the styling is classic but it's built with light weight materials and modern components. This is definately not the heavy cruiser I had as a kid.
