Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Riverside Chair - Special Buy:
When folded up in the sack, just one of these chairs takes up the space of both of our previous camping chairs. The weight is about double too. Just not a practical chair for camping, ours will be returned soon.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Riverside Chair - Special Buy:
A few years ago I purchased a hard arm camp chair that I really loved. Unfortunately after a few years of service it, like most folding camp chairs, failed and I found myself sitting on the ground. I went back to the same store to purchase another one and was disappointed to learn that they no longer carrier the brand. Unfortunately for me, no one else did either. I was forced to purchase another so called "heavy duty" chair. The only issue is after a few uses, that too broke and every other chair I have tried I am afraid to put my weight on to get out of the chair. Ok - confession - I weigh about 315 pounds.
So my search ended when I found the Riverside Chair. I own a few other items made by ALPS engineering and all have been of superior construction. The chairs arrived today and are of exceptionally good quality...better than any I have seen. It is sturdy and even has vertical uprights on the front for strength. This is the perfect chair if you are on the big and tall size or you simply want a chair that won't fall apart. Yes it is heavy - because it is heavy duty. I would not purchase the Riverside if you plan to take it hiking, but if you are setting it out for a BBQ or to watch the kids play soccer - it is the perfect camp chair. I like it so much I am going to order 2 more.
Also just as an FYI - at first I could not figure how to open the chair. There are 2 locking knobs under the arms. They need to be pulled outward to disengage the pins. Good design, just took a few minutes to figure it out.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Riverside Chair - Special Buy:
It weighs 14 pounds! It is so heavy that it is great. Arm rests are positioned at very nice heights and they're comfortable for prolonged arm-rest. Insulated beverage holder with stash pocket next to provides the yin and yang i crave while sitting. I lorded over my friends on our last camp trip having by far the best chair.
