Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
I've always backpacked with three or more, so weight and size was not critical. Now that it is just me and my wife, I needed a tent that is both light weight, and comfortable for me at 6 feet tall. So I ruled out the standard 80 inch tents, which are not even 72" inside. My first choice was Copper Spur, which was the right size and best weight, but expensive.
The Jack Rabbit is essentially the same tent that is 1/2 pound heavier but a lot less expensive. The obvious difference from the Copper Spur is that the doors open to the side, which I prefer. I also prefer the color, which blends into the environment better. The packed weight with everything, including a footprint (sold separately), was 5 lbs 12 oz.
The tent was easier to setup than I expected. The corners are color coded and the pole ends have balls to snap into place. You have to bend the poles quite a bit, so you either need to stake out the corners first or have a second person hold down the opposite corner. You'll need to stake out the corners anyway with this tent to stretch out another 3 inches.
The tent has four triangular shaped pockets in the corners that are off the ground, which I like, and ceiling loops if you want to use a gear loft (not included). The top half is all screen, and you get good cross ventilation if you leave the fly doors open a little. The bottom half is opaque for some privacy if you are in a campground.
3 persons will fit if you're up against each other, but you may run out of vestibule room. It is very comfortable for 2. I can't think of anything more I would want in a backpacking tent.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
I bought this tent with the intention of using it for backpacking in the future, however I recently took it car camping over the weekend. I'm used to a three room tent that you can stand up in, however I loved this little tent. The smaller size meant I didnt need as large of a flat area to set it up. Setting up the tent is easy. I bought the footprint which allowed me to know exactly how much flat ground space I would need. Setup is super easy, and me by myself only takes a few minutes from start to finish.
I particularly like that the doors open to the side so your not sitting or stepping on the door. I also like that there are stuff pockets in the cornors and about 5 loops on the ceiling you can hook a gear loft to, or as I did a small flashlight on a caribeaner clip. Once set up the tent is solid. I had it fully staked out and when I pushed on it, you could tell it was solid.
I was in the tent solo, so there was plenty of room, but I think there would be plenty of room for two, however three would be a tight fit. I generally just half the "man" number manufacturers use for a tent.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
This tent is loaded with thoughtful engineering. The tent I replaced was nearly 20 years old and I was delighted at the improvements in convenience and function. First is the ability of the tent to keep condensation away from the inside. I spent a week in Michigan near the lake in August in this tent. The dew on the ground in the morning was extreme but inside the tent all my stuff stayed dry and I was comfortable. Under pouring rain I stayed equally dry except when I left the door open. Even zipped up the tent vents pretty well. The tent has four built-in pockets in the mesh ceiling for stashing flashlight, cell phone, etc. A gear loft is also available but the four pockets provide a lot of space. Because the pockets are mesh you can see what is in them. I like to keep my stuff inside and dry so I camped solo in the 3-man tent. I had lots of room and minimal weight penalty. With the two-door design getting in and out around luggage etc. is easy. Also, with extra space and two doors, sorting and changing clothes is convenient. The fly over the doors is very good at catching whatever breeze may be available no matter what the tent's orientation is. Set-up is really simple and quick with the color coded corner clips. If you must set up in the rain you can set up the optional footprint and the fly then set up the tent inside the fly. This way, the tent will be dry inside when you are done. With a full mesh ceiling things could get very wet before you are done but with this feature you can avoid that. That set-up technique is slower and you will want to practice in dry weather so you are ready when the need arrises.
Before purchasing I looked at a lot of tents. This tent exceeded my expectations in every way.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
I used this tent this past summer backpacking and hiking through The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. It was easy to set up and take down. At times, the zippers were hard to zip and unzip unless you held one end.
Glad we got the three man tent - the two man would have been too small
I did not put waterproof becuase we had great camping weather and did not have any rain.

Replaced an A-frame and couldn't be more pleased. Sets up in less than 5 minutes. Roomy enough for two large adults and gear. Rain fly and footprint quick set-up option is excellent for minimalist camping.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
So I bought this 3 man tent after trying my brothers out on a few trips. It weighs less than my last 2 man tent, plus it sets up super fast because of its simplicity. That's a bonus if it's getting dark, you're tired, or you need an escape from the elements. Inside there are storage pockets for all of your small stuff, and a loop to hook a light or glow stick to in the center of the roof. The two doors are a must for multiple campers. Nothing like someone climbing over your gear...lol. The poles are strong, light aluminum, so no shattered fiber BS. The only thing I don't like about this tent is that one end is completely screen making it a bit drafty even with the fly cinched down tight. I partially covered it with my lightweight multi-towel, it helps. Instead of the expensive footprint, I use a two person emergency blanket. They're perfect size, waterproof, light weight, pack tiny, and only run a few bucks. Plus they insulate in case you're ever desperate for heat. This is a sturdy, well made, lightweight tent made by one of the best. I couldn't ask for more.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
This was an upgrade from an A frame 25 year old tent. There is lots of room, my camping buddy is 6'2" and fit comfortably. The shape of the tent made it feel spacious, roomy and easy to sit up. The footprint was exactly the size of the base of the tent and made it a bit tricky it keep out dirt. I would recommend an additional tarp to cover a larger area and also keep things in the vestibules a bit more protected from the bottom. Interior storage is minimal and we bought a gear loft which offered pockets that helped organize our small items. We have only used our tent for two chilly nights at Joshua Tree NP but were very happy with it so far.

I stressed over which tent to purchase. I considered many but came up with this one and could not be happier. Great tent, sets up very easy, light weight and simply awesome with the fly off under the Northern Michigan skys.

Comments about Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL3 Tent:
I just got back from a trip to Philmont and believe me, this tent is great. We had a crew of 9, with six scouts and three adults. We had two of these tents for the six boys. All six of us were able to fit in two tents (two of the guys were large, being over 220 pounds each) and we still had ample room. The only thing that I don't like is how thin the floor material is, so for both of the tents, we got footprints, which are well worth the twenty dollars.
