Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Extreme 3 Footprint - Special Buy:
I upgraded to the mountaineering 3 tent and want to keep it for a long time, the footprint was recommended to keep the floor away from the ground getting scuffed. I'm concerned that the edges of the footprint extend beyond the floor of the tent and are pretty close to where the rainfly covers (all the way around!). if it rains and there's any wind or mis-laying of the tent on the footprint on my part, the water's going to get trapped between the tent floor and the footprint. While the tent floor is supposed to be waterproof, I'd rather not test the statement. I used a regular tarp and just rolled the edges up under my old tent by a couple of inches and that worked great keeping the tent floor off debris and away from water. I don't know if I'm going to recommend this or not, have to test it out in the backyard during a rain shower to see how well it works... or you can save a couple of bucks and use a tarp as a groundcloth
