The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
For me, these have been great shoes. I've been using them for a couple of months now and I still like them. These, to me, are a lot more comfortable than the Evolv shoes I've tried and about the same price.
It took a while to break them in but now they are very comfortable and I can climb for a couple of hours without taking them off. I was concerned they would smell bad after a while but they don't smell at all.
I would recommend these to another beginner. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with many other shoes to compare them with so my review may not be of the most help.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
I don't really like to give bad reviews but, these shoes are terrible. Honestly they are fine if you are just starting out and are climbing very easy routes with large footholds. But, there are many other shoes out there that are better for less cash. These are my qualms about them. They are extremely stiff. Smearing is a feat in itself with these. Not sensitive and not sticky. So sticking on small or slick footholds are terrible. Cracks? Forget it. I can stick routes better in my old skate shoes. The heel is shaped extremely odd so I ended up having ALOT of room in the heel which didn't make heel hooks feel very good and the straps allowed no adjustment to fix this. Taking them back asap and sticking with what I know works for me the best.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
i used these shoes both indoor and outdoor. bouldering and sport climbing.
this shoes is extremely comfortable. you can wear the shoe all day without pain at all.
however the rubber is very thick in the sole and you you have no feel on the footholds. the rubber actually wore out really quick for me after about 5 months of climbing 3 days a week both indoor and outdoor i was slipping of holds that i would normally have good grip on my my scarpa boosters.
the shoes did perform extremely well when smearing at the start but that faded with time to not being able to smear at all. the shoes are not very accurate when finding small pockets and chips.
they did however work very well with heel hooks i was able to trust them on almost every hook to hold.
i would suggest these shoes to anyone starting out, or looking for all day comfort.

If you have a wide foot this might be the shoe for you, it will stretch a little with time.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
There is real only on reason to buy these shoes. if you are just starting out and plan on only doing easy climbs on an irregular bases then these shoes will work for you. they are some what comfortable and they do not hurt your feet but if you are planning on climbing regular or think you could get into the sport then my recommendation is to look elsewhere. these shoes are very hard and you have not sensitivity on your feet. they also do not hold well on any small foot holds or smooth hold of any kind. also smearing on the wall is impossible with these shoes. i started out using these and used them for 4 months. i felt like a was no longer improving and my feet keep sliding off holds less experienced climbers were having no problem with. when i bought a different pair of shoes i was instantly able to climb a level higher. my recommendation is if you are thinking of getting these go to a store and just touch the rubber on these and then try any other shoe. you can feel the difference and it really matters when you climb.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
These shoes feel catered to beginners: oversized with lots of toe room (I wear 1.5 sizes down to get a decent fit), thick hard soles.
The soles make it comfortable to stand on small protrusions, but really leave a lot to be desired for any situation where you have a tenuous foothold. The rubber isn't the stickiest either.

Comments about Boreal Joker Plus Strap Rock Shoes:
I feel bad giving these shoes 3 stars because there are a number of ways in which these shoes are very good. They look cool (for rock-climbing shoes), are well-made, are VERY comfortable (even when sized tight), and it was very easy to cinch down the velcro tight.
BUT the sole is really thick...I almost felt like I was climbing in dress shoes; there was NO sensitivity with these. Also, the rubber is pretty slippery. Don't get me wrong, there were many footholds where these held-on just fine, but for really tiny footholds, smooth footholds and footholds that require you to be positioned ackwardly, these shoes simply can't be trusted. There were a number of footholds that I previously had no issues with when using my prior shoes, but with these, I slipped right off.
Overall these are a high-quality shoe and if you're just starting out climbing, or planning to do very lengthy/fairly easy climbs, these would be a good choice. But if you need a shoe that is precise and sticks to tiny and/or smooth footholds, then these are not the shoes for you.
For sizing, I would go a half-size down from your street shoe for comfort/all day climbing or go down 1-1.5 sizes for bouldering/performance. BUT realize that regardless of how small you downsize these, performace will be limited by the thick-sole and not-very-sticky rubber.
