Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
My feet have never been so happy while riding. Very comfortable and adjustable. Over the years I've worn cycling shoes from Nike, Diadora, Lake, Shimano and some old skool brand I forget (made from kangaroo leather for slotted cleats!) and these Giro's are the best to date. Rode all over Post Canyon, Bend and Sisters and they performed wonderfully.
They are a wee bit on the spendy side, but are so comfortable I don't care. The sole is grippier than similar Sidi's (I slip less on rock than my buddy in Sidis) but it's also showing some wear already so long-term verdict on the durability of the sole is an open question.

Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
It gets pretty wet and slippery up here and these shoes have performed great. Very comfortable*, great traction on sketchy surfaces, and easy to clip into spd's. I have wide feet and these things fit like a glove. Over a month on the shoes and no noticeable wear on the soles!
The variable arch supports are a great idea but I am not sold yet.
On occasion the ratchet mechanism has released while walking just before a ride. It has never done so during a ride, though, and I suspect it was just a matter of the ratchet clip not having seated all the way.
*The only bad thing about the fit is a need to shim my cleats. It feels as though I am putting too much pressure on my fifth metatarsil (the bone at the base of the little toe). Could be the shoe or it could be me - hard to tell.
