The MTI underDOG Flotation Vest for dogs positions most of its buoyancy under the chest area, supporting a dog's natural swim posture and making its instinctive swim motions more effective.

  • Traditional flotation vests pull dogs' hindquarters up and position their heads closer to the water; underDOG releases the neck and lets the head ride higher above the water
  • 4 adjustment points, ventilated mesh across the back and an adjustable mesh bridge between the collar and the body help ensure great fit and comfort
  • Reflective trim accents the sides and top for enhanced visibility in low light; reinforced carry handles and leash attachment point help you keep your dog under control
  • The MTI underDOG Flotation Vest for dogs is made of durable nylon and Cordura® fabric in the same factory that makes MTI life jackets for people

MTI underDOG Flotation Vest for Dogsis rated2.5out of5by6.
Rated2out of5byfromodd designThis jacket puts the floats on the stomach of the dog. This causes our dog to roll onto his side in the water. It seems that floats on the top (the dog's back) would make more sense and prevent this. In order to feel comfortable we put the jacket on upside down so the floats were on the top.

Rated3out of5byfromWorks to float but tipped the dogWe bought this to use on our first water trip with our dog; we didn't know if he could swim yet. I'm glad that he can because we would have had to probably turn back and head home. We adjusted the vest to fit but it kept tipping him to the side. It's possible that we got the wrong fit but it turned out safer to not have him in it while in the river. I did like how easy it was to get off and on, the handle to hold him back or pick him up out of the water into a boat. What I thought was also great was that it seemed to have better breath-ability than other vests. Our dog has a small-medium frame/build but is 55+ lbs. (he's nothing but bones and muscle), things that go by weight often have fit issues.

Rated1out of5byfromToo small for our big dog,We carefully measured our Newfoundland Lab before buying this vest and he was under the max on the XL by several inches. When we tried it on him, however, we couldn't even get it latched. Major disappointment. We measured the vest and it was several inches shorter than they say the max chest size is! Terrible sizing and product info. Needless to say, we returned the product.

Rated1out of5byfromNot a good productI have two dogs that I needed PFDs for, so I bought this one and the RuffWear one as well to compare the two. This one definitely lost that battle. As other users have said, the flotation part tends to slip back towards the dog's back legs, requiring some jury rigging with straps between the neck piece and back piece to prevent this. The flotation packs themselves also slip around side to side because they are not anchored to the neckpiece. I had this PFD on my 60lb Catahoula while he was retrieving sticks thrown into a lake, and it was constantly slipping to one side or the other, clearly unbalancing his swimming. It got to the point that it was sometimes making him hesitant to venture past standing depth in the water. I will be taking advantage of REI's liberal return policy and trading this out for another RuffWear PFD. Save yourself the trouble and just buy one of those.

Rated5out of5byfromThis is the BEST Dog PFD I have found! This is the third Dog PFD I have tried. The MIT underDOG is a great comfortable fit for both of my dogs ( Chance is a Cocker Spaniel & Marley is a Yorkie ),Both dogs ware them without any fuss. The PFD's adjust easily, and stay firmly in place even if the dogs are picked up by the handle on top. A firm, Snugg, comfortable fit are the most important features of a PFD for dogs. If the dog dosen't like it it will not work, they will fight it all day long. Please make sure your pet is protected by a Pet PFD at all times, while boating on a lake or stream. I know most all pets can swim, But how far can they swim with out your help, or if they are injured! Thanks for reading! Ten 10 Nails

Rated3out of5byfromworks great with a little modificationI got this for my 1 year old yellow lab Althea, for those days when she swims a lot to help her if she gets tired. It does the job, but there are a few things that could be fixed for a better fit. First is the sizing Ali weighs 70lbs and has a 27" chest but a skinny waist and the jacket has a tendency to slip back around her belly rather than under her chest where it is supposed to stay. Especially if she is jumping off docks into the water. We fixed the issue by using the yellow neck strap and running the front back strap through the loop in the neck strap. That seems to keep it up under her chest. It does slip around a bunch under her when she swims but she is a super strong swimmer and it doesnt seem to bother her. She likes wearing it and it does the job, it works better and is more comfortable for her than the typical ones that go on the back. Overall i like it and she likes it, we just have to do lots of adjustments from dock jump to dock jump, but for a less active dog or an older chunkier dog or even a dog who doesnt swim well i think it would be great, and you wouldnt need to adjust as much.
