Comments about NEMO Obi 1P Tent:
At less than 3lbs this tent is amazing. First of all I love the color. The lime green just pops! The single vestibule is ginormous and will fit your pack and everything else you need it to. You could cook in it too but I dont suggest that in any tent vestibule. No condensation (testing in my backyard so far in the rain at high 50F. I was comfy throughout the night and didnt rub up on the sides at all.
Jakes foot is great and easily replacable on the field if need be. The tension mechanisms (lineloc 3) works great. Comes with (6) red tent stakes utilizing the 3 sided form; some reflective guy lines; a tent pole repair tube; 2 tent body patches; an awesome sticker sheet
The one part im a little concerned about its the exposed tent body (where they make the cut out of the fly) should be water proof but I noticed the change in color which accompanies the absorbtion of water. Water never actually got into tent because of the inner coating. I dont see the seal breaking any time soon but I will apply an additional coat of waterproof spray.

Comments about NEMO Obi 1P Tent:
3 1/2 months on the road in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The tent was not used the entire time, but when it was, it performed very well. I love the weight and the fact that you can sit up in it. It rained nearly everyday when I was using it in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of northern Colombia and it held up beautifully. Very good product.

Comments about NEMO Obi 1P Tent:
I have been using a Marmot tent for the last 12 years. I wanted to try something new and I found that the Nemo tent was what I was looking for. It is well made, waterproof, has a lot of room for a one person, unlike a body bag, I mean a bivy sack, very light for its size, Packs very small, fast to set up even in the dark, and I have had no problems with condensation (I really hate condensation in my tent).
The one thing that bugs me, and its not really that big of a deal, is the poles with the ring that connects three poles. It just doesnt work well for packing. Again this is not a big deal but worth mentioning for people who like everything packed tight and neat.
I love this tent! Nemo you guys make some great stuff.
Oh...the price, well you get what you pay for.

Comments about NEMO Obi 1P Tent:
The Nemo Obi 1P is an excellent single-person shelter that to this reviewer, after using it on serval trips with every imaginable 3-season weather extreme, has the one-up on most, if not all of it's competition. It packs very small, goes up fast and easily, is extremely buttoned down in inclement weather - both rain and wind, offer a very large and usable vestibule, has extremely easy ingress/egress and has more internal space than most of the competition where it counts - in the shoulder/torso area when seated. This is where the tent shines. It has a much wider floor layout than most 1P tents, and takes great advantage of that fact. Unlike other "coffin" style shelters, that have vertical walls, but are very narrow (usually about 24" width or so the full length of the tent), the Obi 1P is a whopping 39" at the head, gradually decreasing in width to about 29" at the foot. The nice thing is, the majority of useful width is maintained higher up where your shoulders and body need space to move about. This is due to smart tent design and a clip on the fly which helps volumize the tent at the critical mid-point of the tent. As there is no pole cross-strut, the tent does narrow quite a bit up near the top, but with a true 39" to 40" of headroom in the area you will most likely be seated, never once did I feel cramped. The 87" length is more than sufficient for 6 footers, and might be comfortable for folks up to about 6' 2" or so. Don't get me wrong here - the Obi 1P is not a palace, but it is VERY livable for a 1-person design.
There are two internal pockets - one at the top with Nemo light-dispersing material (load your head lamp in and it helps reduce glare, making for a softer glow in the tent) and one pocket on the left side, mid-center where the body meets the mesh - a good spot to be able to reach for in the middle of the night. There are also several hang loops to utilize how you see fit, such as hanging a lamp, clothes line, etc. Nothing fancy, but more than sufficient.
As mentioned before, the tent goes up extremely fast and is absolutely buttoned down in windy, rainy weather. And unlike the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL1, which flaps around in the breeze like a cheap kite, it is very quiet when the wind kicks in. It has very good ventilation when the fly is closed, and when the weather permits, it offers exceptional views and even better ventilation with the ability to fully tie back both sides of the fly on the door side. The vestibule is large and completely usable to store a pack, boots and even a pooch, if necessary, all without inhibiting entry into the tent. The Jake's Feet also add to the easy setup, providing a really effective junction for the tent, fly, footprint and poles to co-exist. At first they threw me off a bit, but in short time, I have come to like them significantly over the old grommet design that most tents still employ. Nemo's weight specs are accurate. My tent, fly and poles came in at 2lbs, 8.2 oz. Nice stuff.
One other area to mention is how easy it is to enter and exit this tent. Nemo set the door such that it opens all the way up to the highest point of the tent, thus no more crawling or having to do a duck-walk to get in and out - at least for this tester. Just glide in or out. This is one of those things that puts a smile on your face and makes you curse your other backpacking tents.
So what needs improvement? The only area I'd really like to see Nemo address has to do with the large expanse of wall at the head of the tent. There is no way to guy it out effectively, and even though it is reasonably taut by design, wind still deflects it inward, compromising internal space, especially when you are laying down. Add in the fact the the large cut-out of the fly over this area (part of Nemo's design to reduce weight and increase ventilation) creates what is essentially a single-wall (opposed to the double-wall design over the remainder of the tent). Mix that with in-ward deflection in windy weather, and BAM... when you have conditions that favor condensation, this large portion of tent wall has the potential to become damp, impacting your head and/or top of your sleeping bag. Nemo can easily address this by moving their "Nemo" label to the mid-center of this wall and then attach a guy loop there so that you can defend against in-ward wind deflection and create more internal volume with a stake and a bit of guy line. A simple design change that would make a small but usable difference in real-world performance. Other than a tent storage sack, pole bag and footprint (optional) that are heavier than they need to be, the Obi 1P is a fantastic shelter and well worth consideration. 4-stars because nothing is perfect; regardless this tent comes highly recommended!
