Seemed good quality but were a little too tight so returned.
Service and delivery comments:
Was a little small for reported size. I bought them online and returned them to a store. No hassle and quick return.

After writing down several 'step' ("one small step…" or "following in the steps of greatness") and 'boot' ("these boots were made for walking…" or "put on your [*]…") styled puns; I have decided that the winner is…….. These boots are a giant 'steppe' up from anything else I have ever worn! Get it? Steppe! Sorry, I work in Mongolia so I 'plague' everyone with 'steppe' puns. Yeah I know - not funny. Before I jump into my review, I want to quantify my usage. I am a graduate student working on my PhD in archaeology. I conduct my field research in the middle of nowhere Mongolia. Sadly, I do not get to carry a whip or a gun and I have never had to run from poisonous dart blowing natives. I do, however, direct a substantial survey project in the mountainous northern regions of Mongolia. As part of this project I hike several kilometers each and every day for several months each summer. Needless to say I have gone through my fair share of hiking boots and as such, I feel well qualified to talk to the greatness of the Pamir boot.read on at 307andbeyond.tumblr.com

First off, let me say that any great boot is only as good as it fits. This boot fits my foot (narrow heel, wide fore-foot). It does fit very similar to my Nepal Evo. However, before you buy a boot, try it on and on and on. I walked around REI for 3+ hours in these boots deciding on whether 43 or 43.5 was best for my foot. I tried multiple foot-beds and only then made a boot decision.
Now on to the boot. The La Sportiva Pamir is an all leather boot. Unless you are going to be standing in water for a long time, or your feet do not sweat, a boot with no membrane (gore-tex/event/proprietary) is the way to go. An all leather boot simply breathes much better than a leather with membrane. Again, this is in the category of heavy backpacking/light weight mountaineering. When I take my feet out of these boots, they are much drier than my boots that have goretex.
These are very burly, well made boots. The wrap-around rubber rand protects the most vulnerable part of the boot from excessive wear. One reviewer noted that there was softer leather on the upper heal of the boot. As was noted, this is less abrasion resistant. However, it allows for comfort by increasing the flex in the ankle. If you need to protect this, wear some short gaiters. I have traveled cross country in the Pacific Northwest through blackberries and all kinds of terrain and not damaged that leather.
To sum it up: Great all leather boots. Depending on the shape and fit or your foot, it is either these or the Scarpa SL M3.

Went out in these boots twice, put about 15 miles on them, just enough to realize they were amazing in fit, comfort and feel. Then, out of nowhere, noticed the extensive backcountry I tend to do started to shred the patent leather trim on the back of the boot, creating a huge flaw for water to get in... so disappointing! Who was the darn fool that thought putting cheap leather trim on a very expensive high-quality leather boot was a good idea? Taking them back!

Comments about La Sportiva Pamir Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought these boots for hunting. Often I walk miles through either the mountains of CO or the plains near Kansas, and I wanted a boot that would be breathable, sturdy on uneven ground, and comfortable.
I went with these as I hate insulated hunting boots, because my feet sweat all the time. The lack of a "breathable" waterproof liner caught my eye, but I was worried that the "waterproofed" leather would not hold up to extreme moisture. On my first outing I purposely stood in a mountain creek to test them out. I could not believe how dry the boots were upon stepping back onto dry ground. Sure I will have to treat the leather several times a year, but you should do that even if your boots read "Gore-Tex" on them anyways. So far they stay dry, and the sweat from my feet doesn't build up leaving me with nasty clammy feet like "Gore-Tex" boots have in the past.
I did put Superfeet inside my shoes, as the hard flat bottom looks nothing like my foot and I didn't believe over 20 miles in a day that my feet would like the lack of contour in them. The lacing system on these boots are sweet too as it works as if it were an upper and lower zone due to the snaps on the laces that hold them in place.
I'm interested to see how these boots handle the snow. While these boots are REAL stiff, I don't know if they will handle any vertical ice, but they aren't technically made for that anyways even if I'd like to push as much out of them as I can.
Did I mention these boots are STIFF? Well they are, and it took me a month of short usage before I felt like they may have started breaking in.

Bought these in early spring for Alaska, however, my feet sweated after a few minutes. Traction is appaling, especially on wet rocks.

Comments about La Sportiva Pamir Hiking Boots - Men's:
I am a serious over packer and my pack weight usually runs about 55lbs to 60lbs. In my quest for a good stiff boot I found REI's selection rather lacking. I bought these boots to replace a 12 year old pair of Raichle's that were great. I was disappointed to see they were no longer carried at REI. On the review... The boots have an excellent stiff shank and prevented rock bruise very well. The ankle support is great and I found that after 10 mile trek with a full pack on rocky terrain, my ankles were not tired or sore. Wet traction was second to none! No slipping wet or dry even on slick rock. The bad... I have extremely narrow feet. The foot bed fit fairly well but the heel cup did not grab well after the boot wore in a bit. I could not tighten it down enough to hold my heel down, which resulted in terrible blisters. Though not a problem with the boot, rather my foot. I gave these boots four stars because they did not come in different widths. [...]

Comments about La Sportiva Pamir Hiking Boots - Men's:
So I decided to adopt these as my lightweight mountaineering boots, even though they're designed for backpacking. They were really comfortable [...] I really like the stiff nylon shank, which gives some decent support for mild front pointing on gentler slopes (not claiming that they're for ice-climbing or anything... but they'll get you up that 70 degree slope in a pinch). The ankle support is great for French-stepping, which is what I use them for. Buy them big so you can wear two or three pairs of socks, since they aren't insulated. The big points: A) No blisters - wore them up to do a 15 mile climb of San Gorgonio the day after I bought them, and my feet were in perfect shape.B) Dry - I took a leap of faith and rejected the GoreTex for the Italian leather; it was a good move. Even during my last trip where I was slogging up a gully in 4 feet of powder, my feet were dry as a bone.C) Excellent construction - everybody knows La Sportiva and these boots live up to their great reputation. Haven't had these too long, but based on my impression so far, the should last quite a few climbing/hiking seasons.
