Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I have an older generation of this type of bag and LOVE it. Have used it through 12 countries, 5 ACLs, 1 baby (made a great diaper bag) and countless domestic travels and it's still going strong. Had t o replace the water bag recently only because I lost the original. Has a deceptively large storage capacity and is very comfortable.

Overall great backpack for apline/hiking/traveling/daily use (school), etc. seriously an awesome backpack! It looks cool, fits extremely well, a lot of cool simple features, the water bladder is really helpful, and again just PURE AWESOME CAMELBAK POWER!

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
This is my first day pack and I am quite impressed with it. My decision for a day pack came down to this and Osprey's Mantas 30. In the end, the Fourteener won my purchase. In comparing to the Mantas 30, the Fourteener is about a pound lighter (this makes a big difference), more comfortable, and can carry a bigger load. I just don't quite understand the hype with the Osprey Mantas. Yes, the Mantas has some bells and whistles like a rain cover and a side trekking pole attachment, but the Mantas is very heavy for a day pack and you lose a lot of room in the pack with its very curved back.
The Camelbak Fourteener is perfect for long day hikes, mountain summit scrambles, and casual day use. I've had this pack for about 2 months and I've already taken it on a dozen 12 to 15 mile hikes, to the summit of Mt. Borah at 12,662 feet, and to a few outdoor concerts.
The bottom line - it's an all-around great day pack!

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I'm a trail runner. For many years I've avoided carrying water. I don't like carrying water on a belt or in my hand because the bouncing sensation (of water splashing around) is super annoying.
That sensation is almost entirely mitigated using this pack because it attaches so well to your body. The pack is very adjustable.
On the downside, the bladder's seal is easy to seat incorrectly, causing leaks. This isn't a reason to avoid the pack, just pay close attention when closing the cap.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I've had this pack for a few months now and have used it about two dozen times. I can fit enough clothes for a long weekend and it has plenty of organizational pockets to hold all necessary accessories. The bottom of the pack is a tiny bit difficult to access because the zipper stops about 9 inches from the bottom - in some ways that's kind of nice because things can't spill out if you've got it packed full. It's comfortable on the bike and hiking - haven't run with it yet. Unlike previous reviewers I have not had an issue with leaking and never had with any CamelBak products - I have actually used this bladder on many occasions in smaller packs because I love the new features so much. It's kind of big if you're just going out for a few hours, but it's light so not a huge deal. Love it!!

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I've given this backpack a solid 11 months of 4-season use before forming a verdict on it. My verdict--I HIGHLY recommend it. This Fourteener is fantastic.
It's been with me through a 3-hour pouring thunderstorm coming back from Half Dome last September, snowshoeing to the top of San Jacinto in February, Mt. Diablo in the middle of August heat, weekend trips to Mount Baldy and the 3T's in SoCal, and many more trips.
I was on the fence between the Camelbak Fourteener and the Camelbak Alpine Explorer, so I bought both last June. The Alpine Explorer has a tad more storage space, but it doesn't hold a candle to the comfort, durability, and design of the Fourteener. (For example, it baffles me why Camelbak put a padded hip belt and padded shoulder straps on the Fourteener but not Alpine Explorer.) The Fourteener is superior for actual outdoor use like hiking, biking, climbing, mountaineering, snowshoeing.
Waterproofing - I had my wallet, iPhone, and paper permit in the fleece pocket on top of the pack during that rainy Half Dome trip. None of the contents got wet during the thunderstorm; that pocket, with its waterproof zipper, is pretty waterproof. The main and front compartments had a little bit of dampness, like humidity, inside them after the 3 hours of heavy rain. My socks, for example, in the main compartment were still dry. I was impressed with how well the Fourteener kept out rain without me having a cover on it or anything. If you're extra worried about rain, I'd say either throw a plastic garbage bag around the outside of the backpack or wrap your stuff in a plastic bag inside the backpack.
Winter/snowshoeing - This pack was actually perfect for snowshoeing. To give you an idea of the Fourteener's capacity, in the pack I took the full 3L bladder, two 1L bottles, gaiters, goggles, balaclava, gloves, 10 essentials, food, softshell jacket, hiking poles, microspikes, snowshoes, and an extra wool baselayer in the pack. It took the load very comfortably. I used two 18" bungee cords around the pack to strap on the snowshoes. (See the photo I've attached.) I was really pleased with how everything managed to fit.
Weight capacity - the specs for the Fourteener give a max load capacity of 25lb (12kg). I agree with this rating. I loaded the Fourteener with 8L of liquids plus all the essentials for a C2C hike this month (totaling right at 25lb). Structurally, the pack held up well with the weight; the seams didn't break or anything crazy like that. But at its maximum load, it pulled on my back in an uncomfortable way. Yes, I'm crazy for putting such an excessive amount of weight in a daypack, but I had to try it once!
Bottom line - I highly highly recomemend it.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I usually go on day hikes and have taken hydration packs with me on them. As winter approached, I wore layers and needed to peal them off, or put them on, as the day progressed. To find a place to stuff the jackets was needed.
I had an original Mule and could stuff a down vest, but that was it. I purchased a newest version of the MULE to allow me to stuff jackets in the bicycle helmet portion of the pack. I took it out on a hike, and it just was too uncomfortable. I used REI Satisfaction program and returned it.
I purchased the Fourteener 26 and have used it a number of times. I was very impressed. This pack is made for hiking. It has a larger capacity than the MULE, but it weighs less! The waist band is like a tradtional back pack and supports the pack well. I found the shoulder straps were also more comfortable than the MULE. The back has adjustments to keep it tight and small. I also have attached my poles to the back without issue.
I find I can stuff my vest, jacket, gloves, and hat, as well as snacks, camera, etc.
I use this for hiking, but also good for vacations, and walking around on trips. It's so light and easy to put in a suitcase when you travel.
I know it's more expensive than other Camelbak's but it's worth it. You won't regret it.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
1st pack. Thought it would be too much for our 3hr hike but it was perfect. Water flowed perfectly & stayed cool by squeezing the bite valve while holding tube up so that the water could flow back into pack. Water stayed cold from our 2 hr drive through our 3 hr hike & back home again. Great Investment!

After trying the MULE, and Mini MULE, this pack has the storage capacity needed for bikepacking. With a large bladder that holds 100 fl.oz., it is the best pack I found for this activity. The pack is yet another wonderful design for CamelBak.
