Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I tried on about 30 plus packs and spent quality time wandering around REI on various trips there. I have a long torso and broad shoulders and the packs made specifically for women just don't sit right on my hips. My boyfriend and I were in there for one of the garage sales and I saw this one and decided to try it on. Perfect! Loaded it up with the trial weights and about five minutes later we were at the checkout.
My first trip was Havasupai and I carried just under 20 lbs (we had the mules take the rest of our stuff since this was a four day fun trip, not a backing packing trip). After 12 miles wearing it this pack was still super comfortable. I take it on all our trips in Northern AZ camping and hiking as my boyfriend is a minimalist and I bring lots of extra water, snacks, etc... We also have extra water and food for the dog.
I will be taking this pack to Antelope Canyon and The Wave in the spring for hiking and a photography trip. It fits my Velbon tripod as well as lots of water, snacks, rain gear extra clothes and water shoes.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
As a day hiker almost exclusively, I love this pack! The water capacity is great, and the cargo space seems to go on forever. I can easily hold all the layers required in Colorado, along with a change of clothes, lunch for two, and enough odds and ends to shake a stick at. And when it's full and heavy, the pack feels great on your back, I'm not sure where all the weight goes, but it seems to disappear once you get it on your back.

Used this for long day hikes/bikes in Yosemite. So comfortable. Plenty of water for 8 hour hike. Love this! Everyone who didn't have one in our group was envious!

I have been using this daypack for couple months now on my weekend hikes. It is an awesome daypack, comes with new generation hydration bladder system, stylish and durable. Waist strap has great padding, adds extra comfort to the day pack, making it a perfect backpack for day long hikes and travel.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
Many of this pack's benefits have been summed up by other reviewers. I agree with them all regarding the pros. I am using this pack to climb the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. It has seen 12 of them so far and I believe it will make it to all 46. I've never had a day pack so comfortable and functional. The reservoir holds 3 liters and you can bring another 2 in the side elastic mesh pockets, more if you want to use the main compartment. That's 5 liters without touching the main compartment. I fit all my food, water, and essentials in here for all day 3 season day hikes. What an amazing pack. It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny. Get one.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
My girlfriend calls it my "Man-purse" because of how often I take it places. It's with me almost everywhere. Mountain biking, booze mule for party's, summit attempts, school and work bag, hiking pack, cycling to work, leaving for the weekend to visit some friends, you get the picture.
It's intelligently designed, you can securely hold the load whether it's two pairs of jeans and a laptop or all your gear for a two day trip. convenient pockets perfect for GPS, easy water reservoir and the overall set up is versatile. I'm a cheap and broke college kid so I'm seriously considering using this as an improvised 3 day backpacking pack as opposed to buying my girlfriend a new one and I'll probably succeed in some unorthodox manner. (on a side note take the water bladder out of the reservoir and you've got a well protected laptop compartment for city use. At 15 X 10 inches mine won't fit. If it was about 2 inches smaller it would.)
I'm the MOST impressed with it's durability. I've wrecked HARD on my mountain bike twice now. First time left my hip pad, elbow and knee to take a 10 ft slide on gravel. My shorts and boxers were shredded, as was I, not a scratch on the pack, not even the stretchy side water bottle pocket. Second time I basically took a high speed roll and tumble on my back and shoulders over some rocks. Torn shirt, chunks of flesh missing, cracked water proof camera but not a scratch on the bag.
A versatile pack where I was disappointed at the price tag and lack of a pocket on the hip belt.(awesome for camera's, maps, and car keys) With that kind of durability however, TOTALLY worth it. If the fabric was even twice strength of my shorts and shirt I would have gone through two packs by now. Only complaint I have is the price tag (I'm a stickler) and lack of a hip strap pocket. Not sure about weight, so gram counters might want to look at that.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I've given this backpack a solid 11 months of 4-season use before forming a verdict on it. My verdict--I HIGHLY recommend it. This Fourteener is fantastic.
It's been with me through a 3-hour pouring thunderstorm coming back from Half Dome last September, snowshoeing to the top of San Jacinto in February, Mt. Diablo in the middle of August heat, weekend trips to Mount Baldy and the 3T's in SoCal, and many more trips.
I was on the fence between the Camelbak Fourteener and the Camelbak Alpine Explorer, so I bought both last June. The Alpine Explorer has a tad more storage space, but it doesn't hold a candle to the comfort, durability, and design of the Fourteener. (For example, it baffles me why Camelbak put a padded hip belt and padded shoulder straps on the Fourteener but not Alpine Explorer.) The Fourteener is superior for actual outdoor use like hiking, biking, climbing, mountaineering, snowshoeing.
Waterproofing - I had my wallet, iPhone, and paper permit in the fleece pocket on top of the pack during that rainy Half Dome trip. None of the contents got wet during the thunderstorm; that pocket, with its waterproof zipper, is pretty waterproof. The main and front compartments had a little bit of dampness, like humidity, inside them after the 3 hours of heavy rain. My socks, for example, in the main compartment were still dry. I was impressed with how well the Fourteener kept out rain without me having a cover on it or anything. If you're extra worried about rain, I'd say either throw a plastic garbage bag around the outside of the backpack or wrap your stuff in a plastic bag inside the backpack.
Winter/snowshoeing - This pack was actually perfect for snowshoeing. To give you an idea of the Fourteener's capacity, in the pack I took the full 3L bladder, two 1L bottles, gaiters, goggles, balaclava, gloves, 10 essentials, food, softshell jacket, hiking poles, microspikes, snowshoes, and an extra wool baselayer in the pack. It took the load very comfortably. I used two 18" bungee cords around the pack to strap on the snowshoes. (See the photo I've attached.) I was really pleased with how everything managed to fit.
Weight capacity - the specs for the Fourteener give a max load capacity of 25lb (12kg). I agree with this rating. I loaded the Fourteener with 8L of liquids plus all the essentials for a C2C hike this month (totaling right at 25lb). Structurally, the pack held up well with the weight; the seams didn't break or anything crazy like that. But at its maximum load, it pulled on my back in an uncomfortable way. Yes, I'm crazy for putting such an excessive amount of weight in a daypack, but I had to try it once!
Bottom line - I highly highly recomemend it.

Comments about CamelBak Fourteener 26 Hydration Pack - 100 fl. oz.:
I usually go on day hikes and have taken hydration packs with me on them. As winter approached, I wore layers and needed to peal them off, or put them on, as the day progressed. To find a place to stuff the jackets was needed.
I had an original Mule and could stuff a down vest, but that was it. I purchased a newest version of the MULE to allow me to stuff jackets in the bicycle helmet portion of the pack. I took it out on a hike, and it just was too uncomfortable. I used REI Satisfaction program and returned it.
I purchased the Fourteener 26 and have used it a number of times. I was very impressed. This pack is made for hiking. It has a larger capacity than the MULE, but it weighs less! The waist band is like a tradtional back pack and supports the pack well. I found the shoulder straps were also more comfortable than the MULE. The back has adjustments to keep it tight and small. I also have attached my poles to the back without issue.
I find I can stuff my vest, jacket, gloves, and hat, as well as snacks, camera, etc.
I use this for hiking, but also good for vacations, and walking around on trips. It's so light and easy to put in a suitcase when you travel.
I know it's more expensive than other Camelbak's but it's worth it. You won't regret it.
