Comments about The North Face Hedgehog Tall III GTX XCR Hiking Boots - Men's:
I use these boots for walking on trails through hilly areas. Average walk time 3 hours per stint. Also wear to work when i'm on my feet all day. Worn for 3 months.
Great - fairly lightweight, very comfortable, decent support, good traction on steep hills, flexible, breathable.
Not so great - logos of manufacturer and the materials all over the outside bug me. The Logos / stamps are: Vibram, Northface (on tongue and toe), Goretex, Healcradle. C'mon - are these boots or billboards?
Have NOT tested water resistance.

Comments about The North Face Hedgehog Tall III GTX XCR Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought the Hedgehog III GTX XCR hiking boots to utilize as a light weight trail boot. Wore them around the house for a week and they seemed very comfortable. I decided to try them out on an overnight hike in southern Indiana. The terrain was modest dirt trails and shallow stream crossings. I hiked a total of just under 20 miles while wearing a 25 pound pack. The shoes remained comfortable but as I discovered not waterproof. I didn't really notice it crossing the streams. I did however as I was utilizing my water purifier. I had my left foot angled in with just toes in the water up to the shoe laces. Not waterproof.
Brought them home and tried them in a tub. Slowly filled tub up and waited, then added more water. Right foot had water showing on the bottom outside of boot with water level at bottom stitching line. Left boot again did not leak until the shoe lace level.
I Would not recommend these boots as a waterproof boot. I am not going to continue wearing them so I cannot advise on the durability or anything else.

Comments about The North Face Hedgehog Tall III GTX XCR Hiking Boots - Men's:
The big question: Is it waterproof?
My answer: Yes! After 3 months in conditions ranging from rainstorms, sloppy mud paths, and snow - my feet have yet to become wet or cold.
I *love* the ride of these boots - the heels touch down so softly - especially compared to similar boots in the store. They feel super-light like running shoes, yet are as durable as a boot should be. The traction is excellent - holding solidly to steep rocky surfaces as well as snow-covered or muddy surfaces. And my feet remained remarkably warm, even when the rest of me was freezing. I would recommend these for any travel involving rugged hiking or even urban walking.
