Getting back into mountain biking and got these shoes along with a set of Deore XT pedels. I couldn't be more happy with them. One caution if you order on line--I wear a 10 1/2 C and very seldom can wear an 11, the 45s, were a little tight so I ended up with the 46s and they are just right. Love the hook and loop straps.

I bought these shoes after the Specialized shoes I had for years finally broke. RIP. None-the-less the price on these shoes was good and the construction seems very durable. I would recommend them to a friend on a budget. After riding them for a few weeks of mountain biking and 35 mile commutes I decided the toe box was just a little big for me. It just seemed like I couldn't get the front of the shoe tight enough without cutting off the circulation to the middle of my foot. I went back to REI and picked up a pair of Giro's. The guy there said the Giro's and Specialized shoes have a more snug fit. I still gave the shoes a 4 because I think the shoes were fine, they just weren't right for my feet.

I switched from Look-compatibles to SPD and REALLY like that I can walk and drive safely in these shoes. My only gripe is that my usual size (44) was too small in the toes, so I had to buy size 45, which feels too large. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.
