Comments about Petzl Meteor III+ Climbing Helmet:
I use this helmet for ice, sport, traditional, and mountaineering. When I first took the helmet out of the box I could only tell I had it in my hand by looking at it, the weight is wildly light. I have bumped it against rock and ice quite a few times now and have very little ware to show for it. When you have the helmet on, you have no neck pain as you can barely feel it on your head. My previous helmet was an Ecrin Roc, this thing basically gave me scoliosis from looking up at my partner as he climbed, and you know you had it on all day for sure. It's highly adjustable because you can adjust it any direction you need, I had no issues fitting it to my head in the summer and over a wool cap in the winter. You can't go wrong with this helmet, and yes it is expensive but well worth the money. You wont be disappointed.

Comments about Petzl Meteor III+ Climbing Helmet:
It only comes in one size. And truly, one size does NOT fit all in this case. One of us has a circumference less than the 53 cm they list on the low end of the size range, but the other of us does fall in that range but the adjustments really are not that great even then for smaller heads.
The shell itself is just huge -- like for a gorilla head. But it was so light! Also very well made, it seemed.
We were grateful to discover a helmet that DID come in multiple sizes (Small, Medium, Large) that was almost just as light and at least as comfortable: the Black Diamond Tracer. It is also well ventilated but has nice mesh to block debris from falling through the ventilation cracks. Also nice colors - especially the blue and gray. We were lucky to get the Tracer on sale and are very happy with it.
Returned the Meteor. It will work fine for someone with a much larger head. We tried the Petzl women's helmet Elia which was a smaller fit but did not care for it -- it was heavier and not very comfortable.

Comments about Petzl Meteor III+ Climbing Helmet:
This helmet is so comfortable and lightweight, I often leave it on all day. I barely even notice it's there. It's like wearing a hat. Have not used it in extremely cold conditions. I could see my head possibly getting cold if ice climbing. Not sure what the fit would be like if I tied to wear a fleece beanie under it.
