Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
So before I begin I originally bought the 15 degree bag (Big Agnes Encampment)for camping in the smokies. I froze in the teens... I went to this bag (0 degree)and am very comfortable down to 10 degrees.
The bag packs down well (I use a cinch dry compression bag) and when I got it wet the synthetic dried out really fast.
The main thing I like: I am 6'3" and like my shoulder room because I lay on my side. This bag allows me plenty of room to sleep with my fleece jacket on and not feel claustrophobic.
The other thing I like is that the mattress is contained in the bag directly underneath. I hate waking up on rocks because I rolled one way and my mattress slid the other. You look like a worm in a mummy bag trying to hop your way back to your mattress. Besides if you backcountry camp try finding a level spot. You can sleep in this at angles and not chase your mattress down the tent.
That's why this bag is for me.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
I didnt buy my bag from REI but felt the need to comment since I didnt see one for the Big Agnes Farwell 0 degree. 1)Switching to Big Agnes and getting away from mummy bags is probably the single best thing Ive ever done as far as improving my backpacking gear! 2)Im about a year into owning my 0 degree Farwell and have about 14 nights or so total sleeping in this bag from differant backpacking trips, with the coldest nights dipping to -2 to 0 degress for a night time low and was never cold or dissapointed with my sleeping bag. 3)I used the 15degree air core mattress and was still comfy but I do tend to heat up more than some people. I would suggest going to the 0 degree mattress if you tend to get cold easily and plan on doing some winter backpacking.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
I really like the set up and completely understand the concept. The sizes are spot on. I am 5'10" and the regular was ecxactly the length I needed. I am a bit husky and liked the fact that these bags are roomy, but that might be the main reason I can't use the bag for my winter outings. There is plenty of dead air space that creates enough cool pockets to make me move constantly throughout the night to stay warm. I used the 15 degree core...maybe the 0 would work better? I returned this for TNF snow leopard and REI trekker 1.75 pad and I am much better off when in the 0-30 degree nights. I would reommend this for bigger people and if you are to use this bag in 30-40 degree weather if not so big of a person.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
This bag is huge, I'm alttile bit smaller guy (5'8 145 lb) and I feel like I'm swimming in this bag. I got it because it's the only brand that seems to have the built in sleeve for a sleeping pad, which is awesome. Wish I went with the woman's version that's a couple inches smaller.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
My previous bag was an REI brand, synthetic +20 degree bag for backpacking, which packs very small and is light, but got cold and offered no movement when zipped up.
I wanted a new bag for day trips and car camping excursions to sites where I'd be rock climbing from, but not having to hike very far with the bag. I've used this BA Farwell bag on one 3 night trip so far, with another one coming very soon.
My first impression of the bag was that it was roomy, and the pad sleeve is awesome. I'm a person who tosses and turns, this affords me plenty of room to move about, even when fully zipped. Speaking of the zippers, this snags quite frequently for me. Unsnagging isn't an issue once you get figured out. The pillow sleeve is fine but not a deal maker/breaker for me. I'm about 5'11" and 160lbs, and there was plenty of room for me to roll. If I were another inch or two taller, I'd definitely want the long version of this bag.
I used this on night where the temps got to about 30-40. I did not use a liner, but I did use a pad. I got a slight chill and put on a fleece and was fine. (usually sleep in shorts and a tee shirt) This being said, if it were 0 degrees I think I would have been very cold. What happens is the dead air in the bag and surface area that you're not directly touching doesn't heat up that well (the price you pay for having the exrta room) so you really need the liner if you want to use it in below freezing temps.
It packs down a little large for backpacking, BUT I was able to fit it in my pack so I will be taking it with me on a 5 day trip in Colorado next month (with a liner) it is heavier, but getting a good nights rest in a very comfortable bag is worth the extra weight and bulk if you ask me.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
This is a fantastic bag for backpacking. HOWEVER, that temp. rating must be in 0 deg. C because if you sleep in 0 deg. F temps in it you will freeze. I used it for a night in 20 deg F but had it stuffed inside another 30 deg. bag and I was warm. But I used it in about 40 deg. temp by itself, and even wearing heavy base layers I was cold all night & couldn't sleep. It is a great bag for backpacking in warm weather. Not for anything cold at all.

Comments about Big Agnes Farwell +0 Sleeping Bag:
This bag has many seemingly nice features, including the pad sleeve, roominess and feel. However, the hood opening is shaped like a football, making it difficult to get a snug fit around your face to keep the drafts out.
The pad sleeve seems like a great idea, but it prevents the bag from rolling with you, meaning that the face opening is straight up all the time. As a result, your ear is exposed and your face buried when sleeping on your side. You don't have to use the pad sleeve, but then you have a cold spot when you roll over because there is no insulation on the bottom of the bag.
I am a Boy Scout adult leader in Colorado and we camp in the mountains year-round, sometimes in very cold weather. I had hoped for a bag that would be light enough for backpacking but still tolerable in really cold weather. There is NO WAY this bag is good to 0 degrees, let alone tolerable in sub-zero; it is a +20 bag at best. I can compensate with a bag liner and over-blanket, but then the benefit of a lightweight bag is lost.
I bought this bag because it seemed like a really good value for the money and balance of features. However, if I had a Mulligan, I would spend a bit more and get a better bag.
