Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
I've used this bag on multiple occasions and I freeze when the temps get below 25. Last weekend in 22 degree morning temps, completely bundled up with long-johns and wool socks and I still froze. The +15 rating is simply not accurate. The bag itself is very comfortable in mild weather, not cold weather.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
Used it on several nights in the Shenandoah's that were less than freezing. BA Companion air mattress is a must, and the fact that it slips into a pouch ensures it is never out of place. Really kept me warm and compressed really well in a stuff sack. AIr mattress is the heaviest thing in my pack, but I slept great on some rocky terrain - everyone else was complaining in the morning.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
I bought this bag two years ago, and have used it on multiple trips - from overnight hikes, to multi-day adventures. Big Agnes makes a great product. I'm a big guy - 6'4" and about 285, but I think it is still too cramped at the feet for someone like me. It's still been warm enough, and having the sleeping pad insert on the bag of the pad is genius. If you're a restless sleeper, you might find this bag a little cramped, but Big Agnes has other products to choose from.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
There is a lot to like about this sleeping bag. I particularly like the concept of the integrated air mattress (I used an Insulated Q-core), the ability to move around a bit (6'1" 195 lbs.), and the well designed hood and shoulder draft baffles. Unfortunately, on a two-night backpacking trip with night temps in the 20's I found it uncomfortabley cold. I am normally a cold sleeper, so I had an Ensolite pad under the air mattress and had a lightweight down mummy bag opened up to throw over this bag, just in case. Sleeping in my normal clean long johns and socks, I froze. My grandson, using my regular winter sleeping bag (purchased from REI nearly 50 years ago) was warm as toast. The second night, I wore a fleece vest, fleece pants, and wool socks and was quite warm...until just before dawn. Both nights, it definitely felt like most of the heat was being lost on the bottom (i.e., through the air mattress). As an experiment, on the second night, I let the air out of the air mattress in the morning, thinking that might be the source of the heat loss. Nope - it was much colder just on the Ensolite pad! So all I can report is some individual data points; not a full review. I'm not sure this bag will work for me even in the 30's, but I will love it, I am sure, above 40 degrees. Colder than that and I'm sticking with my old winter bag.

Finally had the opportunity to sleep in 15F conditions. Was comfortable as always as I tossed and turned all night. Feet were cold when I went to bed and stayed cold all night - even with polypro liners and two pairs of wool socks. Not sure if I can blame the bag. As they say, the best way to keep frozen food frozen is to wrap it up tight in a good sleeping bag. Next time, hot water bottles or chem warmers for sure. Still the most comfortable bag I have even used.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
I am 5'8" & 165lbs. Had this bag for several yrs, used it 3 seasons and always coupled with the BA 2.5" air core pad. It is roomy -- I can change cloths in it. If you just read the weight spec, it is kind of light. But consider the temp rating is inaccurate. I'd rate it 30°F. In that temp range it won't be the lightest. I spent many 20°F nights in it and I had to wear my REI Primaloft jacket. The most comfy temp for this bag is 30-40°F. I starts to sweat 40°F, the liner is not poly but feels OK when sweatie.
Primary reason I bought this vs. down-filled is for water resistence because my REI Minimalist bivy is not rain proof and I was afraid of getting down-filled sleep bag wet.
Now they have water resistent down fills. So my next sleeping bag will not be this one.

I bought this to replace a 32 degree bag when I was going hiking at Panthertown Valley, NC during the winter. Temps were expected to be in the low 20's and high teens. My old bag I would have froze to death. This kept me warm all night, even my feet, which normally suffer the most.
I bought the bag for a taller person since I'm 6'4" and weight in at 230. My only gripe about the bag is that it's a little snug around the shoulders for me. But since it's hard to find a good bag for my size, I'm going to keep this one. It did keep me warm, and that's what counts.
One nice thing about the bag I wasn't shown at REI and found out when I first used it, was there is a pillow sleeve to hold your pillow in place. This worked out really well and was a nice bonus. I guess you could shove cloths in there to to use as a pillow. But I bring my own compression pillow.
Overall I'm very happy with the bag. The only wish is that it was about an inch bigger around at the shoulders.

I have camped many nights in the snow and was cold with a 20 deg bag and layers of clothing. After purchasing the Big Agnes and using it on a snow campout I was warm and comfortable with just normal sleeping clothing.

I'm 6' 210 lbs and the recangle shape was nice and comfortable for me. The air pad was great for old bones and slept in down to 20 degrees and was always warm. Packs down nice and small in a compression bag which is great for packing a small motorcycle.

Comments about Big Agnes Encampment +15 Sleeping Bag:
I've used this bag down to 50 degrees. Its the Long wider version, I am 5'9" to 5'10". This is a long bag. Its comfy but not warm enough even at 50 degrees Fahrenheit for me (almost, but not quite). So I am using an SOL red body thermal bag liner with it - THAT combo works, & I am totally comfy (I am wearing also tho, a wool watch cap, silk long undies top & bottom, & a merino wool long scarf, & socks).
This is my first Big Agnes, & what I really need is a regular length, but the wider version of it (I am a side sleeper & toss around at night).
I am also using this with a REI Stratus pad (Again, the wide version). Now, this combo is REALLY nice, but its a bear to get the REI stratus pad into this bag, the Stratus keeps wanting to roll up. You need to have a big enough tent to have room to struggle with keeping the Stratus pad flat enough so you can get into the sleeping bag. Once you do (with the SOL sleeping bag liner), its heaven & comfortable. I am in my 50s with back, hip arthritis (severe enough to have needed a hip replacement - I am mentioning this, as most reviews dont add the persons age, or arthritis problems which I would think is important to the boomers).
However, the SOL sleeping bag liner adds weight sadly.
I am using my tents as a solo tent (me, my pack, my 2 dogs [lab & jack russell), my sleeping bag).
I tried this combo with the REI Quarter Dome tent 2 person, no go, that tent is too small to do the struggle with the Stratus pad (even kicking the dogs out temporarily). The REI Camp dome tent 2 person, IS big enough to struggle with the REI Stratus pad flattening issue. But, adds another pound, over the Quarter Dome. I think I will change my ground liner on the Camp dome to Tyvek, to drop a pound to the quarter dome weight.
