The C.A.M.P. USA XLC 390 aluminum crampons offer serious performance without the weight. They're the perfect choice for ski mountaineering and moderate glacier travel.

  • Superlight, 12-point crampons are made from 7075-series aluminum alloy for superb strength and minimal weight
  • Aluminum crampons make light work of low-angle snowfields and glaciers
  • Durable design distributes force applied to a single spike across the entire platform, making spikes less likely to bend or snap
  • Step-in binding style fits most stiff mountaineering boots with toe and heel welts; also fits most randonee and telemark boots
  • Included anti-balling plates reduce snow buildup beneath your feet
  • Wear indicators on the side points show you when it is time to replace the crampons
  • C.A.M.P. USA XLC 390 aluminum crampons are not suitable for use on vertical ice or mixed terrain

Comments about C.A.M.P. USA XLC 390 Aluminum Crampons with Anti-Balling Plates:

These are perfect for steep hard snow and spring volcano climbing, but don't expect them to get you up a water ice or mixed test piece. With the anti-ball plates and all the straps they weigh just over 500g. Just under 400 without the plates, but I'll take the extra 100g to keep from falling on my head.

I've used them for three seasons in the eastern sierra and cascades. Considering their EXTREMELY light weight construction, they've done admirably: no bends, no cracks, and only minimal signs of wear even after some ill advised rock scrambling. The adjustment mechanism is a metal leaf spring (different and better than what's shown in the picture).

My only minor gripe is that the heel tabs are a bit too narrow for some of my ski boots, but easy enough to fix by shaving a bit of the sole down. Probably best not to use these with a soft soled boot due to potential fatigue of the ceter bar.

If you climb steep snow for your turns, get these!

Comments about C.A.M.P. USA XLC 390 Aluminum Crampons with Anti-Balling Plates:

Bought these for backcountry skiing/weight. Photo is old version. New version has steel quick clamp to adjust length and weighs 550g with antiballing plates! REI lists 490g but they are suppose to be 390g without plates. Black Diamond Neve Pro is less than one ounce more with plates and I think has several advantages. Buckle is plastic vs BD metal rings. Linking bars are rigid aluminum vs flexible steel for BD. I'd be afraid of using these with flexible boots as I expect most people expect to. Check the BD website for center bar failure when using rigid bars with non rigid boots. Returned the Camps and will buy the BD's.
