Comments about Patagonia Scree Shield Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Only had 1 day to break them in before hiking 5+ miles each day for 5 days in Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. They turned out to be the right fit for my feet. Keep in mind, i am flat footed and inserted green superfeet.
Great shoe and glad i spent 2+ hrs picking them out of many others.

Comments about Patagonia Scree Shield Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Bought these as my first pair of hiking shoes (always used Hi-Tec Altitude boots for hiking) after spending 3 hours at REI trying on various brands/pairs. I was able to wear them straight out of the box and only had 1 day to break them in. I hiked the Hermit Trail in Grand Canyon and Angels Landing in Zion the next week and had NO ISSUES. Only thing i can report is a slight sore spot on each big toe but NO blisters. Keep in mind, i put a pair of green Superfeet in them since i have a low arch. Overall, great hiking shoe that proved to be the best purchase i have made first try and also were perfect from the get-go. I will definitely be buying another pair of patagonia's again if they fit as well as these do in the future!

Comments about Patagonia Scree Shield Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
The Patagonia Scree Shield is a great light hiker/backpacking shoe. I used them for a five day BP trip in the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne River in Yosemite and they were great. Not too much shoe or boot for a 38 pound pack. It's not waterproof, and you can feel some rocks through the sole at times, but it's a good compromise between a big boot and a less serious shoe. My only concern is the sole already shows wear and I haven't put that many miles on them.

Comments about Patagonia Scree Shield Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
i bought these shoes after trying on numerous shoes at REI. this is the only shoe that felt very comfortable right out of the box!
i bought these specifically for my lightweight backpacking shoe and was nervous about how soft the cushioning was. after a 7 day backpacking trip through rugged sierra backcountry, carrying at most 38 lbs, my feet felt great with not one blister! the only thing i noticed was that i could definitely feel the rock under my feet with that heavy of a load.
the front rand on these shoes also briefly started to peel back at most 2 millimeters but this could easily be fixed with super glue. this is a very insignificant problem to send them back to REI since i could fix it myself.
i highly recommend these shoes to a backpacker if they keep their pack weight under 35 lbs.
thanks Patagonia and thanks REI!!

Comments about Patagonia Scree Shield Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:
Out of the box these shoes were fantastic. The were comfortable, light and stylish. Hiking 2 14ers in Colorado the shoes were fantastic. I appreciated the comfort the lightness and the traction. The shoes were broken in right out of the box. However after a third 14er the next week the sole of the shoe separated from the shoe. I assume this happened on a scree field (ironic given the name of the shoe). I am hoping this is an isolated incident and I am willing to give the shoe another chance with a new pair. But I would expect a shoe of this caliber to be able to handle a few 14er hikes in a matter of a couple weeks.
