Comments about Pearl Izumi Canyon Bike Shorts - Men's:
I ride about 3 times a week 20 miles each time commuting to work. The shorts have held since April and constant wear.
I am 5'5" and they seem pretty long, that's my only gripe. So if you are 5'8" plus you should have a great pair of shorts for cycling and hanging out at a cafe/work/school/etc...

Comments about Pearl Izumi Canyon Bike Shorts - Men's:
I started commuting on a cyclocross bike to work and these are the shorts I wear. My commute is 7 miles each way. I have had no comfort issues whatsoever. I get up to 32 mph for over a mile on the way to work and have never noticed them billowing. The length is perfect. They fit me fine without the waistband adjusters. I tried them on in the store before purchasing them. My son's pants have had the same type of adjusters in his jeans for years and they have never failed so I doubt these will. I thought the pocket would be too small but it's big enough for money, an ID, and a key. riding with more in the pocket would probably feel annoying anyway. The only possible shortcoming I see is that the fabric has developed a scratch in it (not a tear). I don't remember scratching myself against anything so I can't really say what caused it and whether or not the fabric getting scratched from the damaged it took is reasonable. Hence only 4 stars. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again or to recommend them.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Canyon Bike Shorts - Men's:
My first baggies (25 yrs mtb in lycra) These are the first baggies I have seen that have light fabric & feel breathable. Not sure how they'll hold up in rough conditions. Major flaw is a single snap (+ zipper fly) for closure. No buckle closure or drawstring. I'm afraid if I crash or fall hard, these shorts might wind up at my knees. Just a fastex buckle in front (not a full belt) would make me feel more secure. There are cinch straps on the sides, but these are for fit adjustment only. Otherwise a quality garment. I hope you're listening Pearl Izumi!

Comments about Pearl Izumi Canyon Bike Shorts - Men's:
First of all these are way too baggy without an ability to adjust the waist properly. There are hidden tabs to tighten the waist, but they are so flimsy they will probably disintegrate after the first wash. They surely will not hold their elasticity for very long. If you do have to adjust the waist, the excess fabric bunches around your waist - there should be elastic/stretch material in this area around the hips/waist. On good shorts you will see most of the hip/butt area being a ribbed/elastic material.
The padded liners are awful. They will not stay put and are likely to slide all over the place on a ride. In my opinion their fatal flaw is the fact that they have a thick bumpy seam that runs right down the middle. This seam will be a major chafe area in the worst possible spot, if you are a guy. Finally, if you are riding with these shorts, you want them to have a little weight to them down by the thighs, otherwise they are going to catch wind and billow in the breeze. These shorts are far too light and I think would be an annoyance on a ride. I did not ride with them, as I will be returning them ASAP. The one good thing I will say about them is the color and stitching detail - Burnt orange stitching on sage green fabric. Very nice. Too bad they are terrible for riding.
