Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Worn twice for a total of 50 miles and developed a 1" hole in the rear end. As others have noted with different model Izumi shorts, the hole is right on the seam. Izumi Quality control is right out the window. Don't buy these.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
These shorts are awesome. I bought these as a replacement to my 10 year old Pearls, and man what a difference. I recently wore these for a 100 mile MTB race, and never had any chafing, or anything. Shorts are another quality product from Pearl!

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I've had the cheaper versions of Pearl cycling shorts and had chafing problems with them, but not this model. I have been wearing them for well over 4000 miles and though I have a slight tear at one of the seams, they have held together well. I have worn them on many century rides and recently completed a multi-day tour in Wisconsin wearing them for most of the days. I also wash them after each ride and have no complaints. They are worth the expense.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
These were great shorts for first 3000 miles. But now after 3000 miles padding near the edges toward the rear sort of wrinkled causing the chafing and rash. Please, note that I wash shorts after each ride with sport wash (Penquin) and I bought correct size. Chafing occurs around 50-60 miles of riding. I have never had that experience with any other shorts and I own 3 more pairs (Canari, Sugoi and Louis Garneau). I liked Pearl Izumi prior to 2009 but now not anymore. I guess I will have to try to use chamois cream for the first time or just use them on short rides.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Excellent shorts, these are way more comfortable than lower-end shorts in the $40 range so with these shorts you do get what you pay for. Got them on sale for [$] so I got those rather than the Attack shorts.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Living in Houston, I was attracted to the In-R-Cool feature of these shorts as we have 90+ degree temps from March - October (yes-it's pretty much as miserable as it sounds). After trying a number of brands, I have stuck with Pearl Izumi for all of my bicycle shorts. My experience has been that they are well-made, have never pilled nor have any of them developed a hole. I have completed 7 Ironmans (with more to come hopefully) and so I spend a lot of time on my bike--comfort, good padding and craftsmanship are important to me. I will say that the Elite and PRO series of PI seem to fit true-to-size, so order up a size if you're on the cusp (maybe that will avoid the "hole" problem). These were great shorts from the get-go and I'm going to order another pair.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I was so excited about these shorts - comfortable, fit well, cooling on the ride, and hey they're Pearl Izumi so they must be good. That is until I came home from my first ride wearing them (mind you, a very brief 10 mile ride) and discovered that they were badly pilling/snagged in two separate places.[...] the second time they were pilling in *three* different places. I owned my last pair of shorts for years. Same bike, hundreds of miles - no pilling or snagging. Obviously PI has compromised the material quality for breathability. Needless to say I returned the second pair as well. [...]. Pearl Izumi? Epic fail.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Expensive, but worth it. I've been on a couple of 30 - 60 mi rides in these, and the pad has been extremely comfortable. Most of my rides begin in the pre-dawn darkness, and these shorts have quite a bit of reflective markings / logos.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I bought a cheaper brand of shorts before this, and when they didn't get the job done on long rides, I dropped the extra cash and got these. They're totally worth it. You'll never know what a huge difference they make unless you take the plunge. Think of them as a Brooks saddle. Only one way to find out :)
