Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I wish the waist band was a bit wider so it doesn't roll up as easily. Also the material in the waist band could have been designed better for durability and stretch so it would have a tighter feel. The trunk of my body is long so the waist feels like it sits a bit too low

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Recently was looking for another pair of shorts for long distance rides - best pair I have is from Gore but they're hard to find and spendy so went to REI in search of an alternative. Was going to try one of the current Novara shorts but the sales associate pushed me towards the Pearls that were on sale. I'd given up on Pearl after my last pair of Attack shorts ~5 years ago. On those the chamois was too bulky and felt more like a piece of terry cloth after a handful of rides. These new pearls definitely are a step up in terms of construction and materials but it doesn't equate to a better short.
My biggest gripe is again the chamois. Pearl has reverted to a less bulky pad like my original Attacks from 10+ years ago but the old ones were more comfortable. After one 50 mile ride the microfiber cover is pilling. The padding is very basic even though they claim its 3 layer, I only see 2 and one is practically non-existent. Overall the pad looks nearly identical to my oldest pair of Pearls. For the amount of details in the desciption of the Chamios on these I'm not seeing/feeling it - I was left with hot spots even my old pearls don't leave me with.
As far as the rest of the short, the panel materials are more then you basic spandex but they are thicker - I didn't feel any 'cooler' as it's name would imply and the resulting thicker seems tended to wrinkle rather then lay flat. Bout the only thing I was impressed with was the leg cuff and grippers - probably the best I've had on bike shorts, even though the cuff is fairly loose they stay in place and don't ride up over time.
Overall for the price (even on sale) I think there are better options out there - even from house brands.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I've bought these shorts in the past and needed a new pair, but the newer ones feel small for their size and the material is uncomfortable. The padding is great and so far it seams durable, but I'm not fond of itching because of the coarse material. I have other brands (Carini)that cost less, durable and comfortable. Don't think I will buy this model again.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I have been buying these shorts for years, size large. I actually weigh less this year by 5 lbs than last year and these shorts are much, much tighter that previous versions. I have a 32 inch waist and I need to buy extra large??? These used to be my favorite shorts.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I bought a cheaper brand of shorts before this, and when they didn't get the job done on long rides, I dropped the extra cash and got these. They're totally worth it. You'll never know what a huge difference they make unless you take the plunge. Think of them as a Brooks saddle. Only one way to find out :)

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
These shorts are awesome. I bought these as a replacement to my 10 year old Pearls, and man what a difference. I recently wore these for a 100 mile MTB race, and never had any chafing, or anything. Shorts are another quality product from Pearl!

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
I've had the cheaper versions of Pearl cycling shorts and had chafing problems with them, but not this model. I have been wearing them for well over 4000 miles and though I have a slight tear at one of the seams, they have held together well. I have worn them on many century rides and recently completed a multi-day tour in Wisconsin wearing them for most of the days. I also wash them after each ride and have no complaints. They are worth the expense.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
These were great shorts for first 3000 miles. But now after 3000 miles padding near the edges toward the rear sort of wrinkled causing the chafing and rash. Please, note that I wash shorts after each ride with sport wash (Penquin) and I bought correct size. Chafing occurs around 50-60 miles of riding. I have never had that experience with any other shorts and I own 3 more pairs (Canari, Sugoi and Louis Garneau). I liked Pearl Izumi prior to 2009 but now not anymore. I guess I will have to try to use chamois cream for the first time or just use them on short rides.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite In-R-Cool Bike Shorts - Men's:
Excellent shorts, these are way more comfortable than lower-end shorts in the $40 range so with these shorts you do get what you pay for. Got them on sale for [$] so I got those rather than the Attack shorts.
