Read More I love these socks, they're great. They keep my feet at a pretty stable temperature regardless of the weather. They're cushiony in all the right places and move with your foot producing a soft barrier between your foot and your shoe. They're not thick though. Sometimes, however they can get a bit humid inside. Not sure if this is due to my Gortex shoes or now, but this has been the trend if I wear my shoes all day with these underneath. I've put on a SmartWool liner sock under these on Black Friday and stood out in the cold for 4 hours and my feet were just fine, even a little bit toasty. Great combo there for cold weather. Price is nice, and so are the socks. GREAT stocking stuffer! -

Read More I love these socks. I bought one pair as a trial, and soon bought three more pairs. For hiking, they're as golden as other Smartwools. They pull moisture but don't hold it, and they're snug on your foot but in no way are they tight. Most of my hiking is in Texas, and these minis are perfect for the warmer weather. I've been using the same four pairs for daily use for work (office jockey) for the last year, and they still work perfectly for the trail. The only hiccup on these is the stitching around the ankle. If you tug too aggressively on the top of the sock when you're pulling them up, you can snap the stitching that holds the folded-over portion down. They're still solid if this happens, but I felt like mentioning it. This is the only reason these socks don't get five stars. These are still the best socks I've ever owned, and I'll buy more whenever these ones bother to wear out. -

Read More With my collection of standard white fitted socks aging and wearing thin it was time to get some more. I like to replace my sock collection en-mass to minimize the inevitable condition of the unmatched sock ( I still get an odd number of socks out of the wash for some reason but at least it matches). Adding to my choice of sockwear was an upcoming month long slog through China, mostly in the southern tropical regions. I'm in Texas so I'm no stranger to heat, I choose shoes based on how well they ventilate because of it. Getting some socks that handle heat better than the tighty whities would be nice. I had purchased these smartwool socks and they are SOO much better than the tighty whities. They didn't loose shape, bunch up, feel totally icky if you got a little water on them, gave good support throughout the day and left your feet feeling ok at the end of the day. On top of that they fight odor much better. Unlike the whities I can wear these socks for several days before they need washing. When I was on the road in China where space, weight and time are always a premium this was great. They dried a lot faster too. I did a LOT of walking, I was a bit concerned that these being the thinner socks may not hold up or give enough comfort. I was wrong, they did great. My feet felt better than they had any trip before. There was one day when I was carrying around all my gear up a mountain that thicker socks would have been nice, but these did ok. The amazing thing though was how dry they kept my feet. I was wearing some gore-tex knockoff leather shoes. The combination of this plus the heat, humidity and constant walking is usually a reciepie for soaked uncomfortable feet. To my surprise this was not the case. The socks were thin enough and allowed enough circulation that my feet were fine all day long. I have another pair of smartwool socks that are bit thicker and they have a bit more moisture buildup, even in non-goretex shoes, so the thickness seems to be the key. I highly recommend these socks for use in warmer climates. I got 5 pair and I'll be going back to get some more so I have enough to cover the entire laundry cycle. -

Read More I am very impressed with SmartWool. I bought these via a recommendation at my local REI. The purchased occurred with the anticipation of putting some serious miles on them over rough terrain. They are very sturdy, cushion enough, wash and hang dry over night. So far they have been amazingly versatile, keeping my feet warm in sub freezing temps and keeping my feet relatively dry in 90+ degree temps. Fantastic!
Read More It's 1/21/12, and today my friend and I went to our local REI in atlanta to pick out hiking socks for our dayhike at sweetwater creek. It was pouring all over Georgia, and heavy rains on Atlanta and then it all cleared. We tested our smartwool socks, of course she got the women version, and our feet stayed dried 98% of the time. The 2% came from water that leaked in through my shoe. I felt no moisture, and these socks dried up QUICKLY. Definitely worth the investment, buy 2-3 pairs, and you'll never regret. They are comfortable, and have a ton of cushion with zero weight. you won't even feel them on you. BUY THESE.
