Discover trails in a whole new way with the Cannondale Trail 5 hardtail mountain bike. A fun, agile frame and 100mm fork ensure fun times ahead.

  • T6061 aluminum frame features double-butted tubes along with shaped chainstays and seatstays to improve efficiency and comfort
  • If the terrain does take a turn for the bumpy, fear not—the RST Gila Pro TNL suspension fork delivers 100mm of travel and lockout adjustment
  • Shimano Alivio shifters and derailleurs perform smoothly as you shift through the 24-speed drivetrain, which is powered by Shimano cranks
  • Promax Orange mechanical disc brakes provide rapid deceleration when needed, even in muddy and wet conditions
  • Stout, double-walled Alex rims are outfitted with Kenda Small Block 8 tires to provide reliable rolling performance
  • Specs on the Cannondale Trail 5 bike are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Cannondale Trail 5 Bike - 2011:

I use this bike for trail riding and commuting to jobs. The frame is sturdy and the shock is good. The lockout on the fork is great when climbing hills and riding on roads. The tires have great traction on trails an are not too noisy on paved roads. Good component mix.

Comments about Cannondale Trail 5 Bike - 2011:

This is my first real Mountain Bike and the difference between "[...]" and "Real" is amazing. The aluminum frame is lightweight yet extremely stiff. The geometry makes it a great climber as well as a good downhiller. The fork does what its sopposed to and keeps things smooth if unlocked. Likewise, it becomes completely stiff if you lock it out. The shifters are great as well as all the other smaller components. However, the only thing I dont like is the brakes. They are ok for commutes, but they get really sketchy when the trail points south. Swap them out and you have an amazing bike for an amazing price. Get this bike if you are ready to really hit some trails.
