The North Face VE-25 Tent is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm a Believer I read every review I could find anywhere before buying this tent. I have now used it for a couple of seasons, and I love this tent. There was a learning curve for me in setting it up, and the first couple of tries took me much longer than it does now. I can pitch this tent in about five minutes now, though would say it would take considerably longer than that pitching it in snow or a storm. That may be one small drawback, but once up this tent is amazing. It's too heavy for one person as a mountaineering tent, though it would be great for climbing and mountaineering with two or three people splitting up the parts. My take on backpacking with this tent is that unless I'm doing really serious uphill, I'll pack this tent in rather than others I own and trim my pack weight somewhere else. I feel more secure in this tent than any I've ever owned. Wind, rain, sleet, hail - I sleep like a baby in my VE-25. You have to use this tent to appreciate the innovative design and details. Storage is amazing! 8 large mesh pockets hold anything and everything. Venting is spectacular. The vents are easily adjustable from inside or outside the tent, and I've never had any condensation inside the tent with even minimal venting. The glow in the dark zipper pulls make night time entries, exits and vent adjustments a breeze. The vestibules are large, especially if you plan to enter and exit through the smaller rear vestibule and use the 11 sq ft front vestibule to store your gear. The bottom line is that this tent inspires confidence, no matter what mother nature throws at you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I do love this tent.. BUT This thing is pretty awesome. I feel like with the right bag I could camp on Everest. Only think is it is pretty bulky. Once split it's not so bad. You MUST have two other people going with you.. give one the fly, one the tent, and one the poles. Obvious advice. If you want to camp on top of Mt Washington use this tent.. just buy a warmer sleeping bag then I did :P

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable bomb shelter Little heavy for backpacking, but perfect for dual sport motorcycle out back, Alaska, Death Valley, Zion, Grand Canyon etc rugged conditions, high winds, heavy rains and freezing cold, can't beat this tent. Sleeve type, takes longer to erect, 15 minutes in the dark swing a rubber dead blow hammer filled with led driving tent stakes and still have all my fingers and toes. See ya in Mexico 11/2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable in most extreme conditions Bought this tent some time ago though put it to test now well north of the Arctic Circle. We did have to make modifications such as sowing on snow-flaps - I think it would be good if provided option to buy with more snow flaps attached rather than just on vestibule (certainly understand that won't be needed on journeys outside of such environments). We also made further modifications allowing us to set up quicker. Prior to modifications we could set the tent up in pleasant conditions in around 6 minutes. With the modifications, we (two of us) could set it up (excluding putting the snow on the flaps, which takes time!!) in three-to-four minutes in -40C temperatures and extremely strong winds. Setting it up in the gales was one of the most pleasing aspects of the tent - I was slightly nervous about it beforehand, though just anchoring the tent on the wind-facing side, and it was quickly secure. We felt extremely secure in these winds, even when camped on very exposed locations. We cooked inside the tent (not much choice), but ventilation is excellent so moisture quickly leaves through the upper ventilation. It heats up nice and quickly as well, and there are good hooks for a drying line at the top. When set up properly as well, it isn't too prone to condensation that is a problem in such cold environments. Though a three person tent (and undoubtably you can fit three people in no problem), for winter/polar expeditions, this is better for two people.
