Comments about Columbia Blood and Guts Freezer Booney Hat:

Purchased this hat about three months ago and have worn it a lot since then at work. I have to be in direct sunlight for up to 8 hours straight at times and this hat works well. Light, tough, and in my opinion, stylish. One size fits all with adjustments so it should fit most heads. Not sure as of yet how it will hold up to folding or squishing down in a pack for storage. Also, this hat is much more breathable than I first thought it would be.
I have the khaki model and it has a black under brim which really helps in direct sunlight.Not sure about the white model, but khaki model seems pretty dirt resistant.....

I've had this hat a little over a year. I tried on this hat at REI and loved it immediately. Every day it continues to grow on me. Random strangers frequently comment on how stylish it looks and one woman told me it made me look like I was from Australia! But that's the least of its many charms: it folds and unfolds well - I can completely scrunch it up in my tiny daypack and it unfolds without nary a mark; it has an elastic cord which makes it adjustable for many head sizes (I can even push my little pony tail up inside and it stays there securely), its dirt-like color seems impervious to stains (or just hides them really well!); the neck strap holds securely in all kinds of windy conditions AND it looks great on me, despite the fact that, months after I purchsed it, I happened to notice that it is a man's hat. I have even thought of buying another one of these as a back up in case the first one goes missing, which would definitely be a bummer. I wear this hat on my daily walks and around the city and the botanic gardens where I like to sketch. This practical hat has the added bonus of making me look like one of the employeee there so I can hide in plain sight. If the house caught on fire my photographs and this hat would be the first things I grabbed. (Maybe I exaggerate a bit, but not much!) I must say, though, that I don't have a good idea of how it performs in the rain. The weather here in Denver is mostly dry and I haven't had an opportunity to test the hat in really wet conditions.
