I've used this in the BWCA while paddling and camping and it kept me dry. We were in the rain for a few hours and didn't have a problem with getting wet. It's fairly breathable, but open up the pit zips if you need to. Great jacket, would buy another when this one passes its useful life!

I wore this coat to the U2 concert in a fairly good rain. Not hard enough to stop the band from playing. Within 20 min I could feel water on my body. 2 hours later my pockets filled with water and WRECKED my iphone. All the pockets were closed tight and ALL had water in them.

This is the most amazing rain jacket I have ever bought. I had been wanting a soft shell jacket that is lightweight and waterproof. Never found one until this. Although it may not be classified as a soft shell, it feels just like one. In fact it is softer and lighter than any soft shell that I have (I do have quite a few). The fabric feels amazingly good. I usually get a large or XL from TNF, and got an XL this time because of availability. The sleeve length was fine, but the body is very big, much bigger than other XL jackets I have from TNF. But I don't mind too much because the jacket is perfect in all other ways, and I can put on mid layers that way. So I am still very happy with it and gave it a 5 star. Yes, it is expensive. But you will want to have it if you can afford it.

Yes, it's a really expensive rain jacket. If you can't get past that you're not still reading and don't get that when you are out in the middle of nowhere and it turns black and rains like nails a good jacket is worth almost anything, and one that is too big or heavy to carry all the time will be in your car or your tent when you really need it. I fold this into a Ziploc bag and keep it in my fishing vest. The hand/wrist covers were made for climbing but happen to work well for casting, and keeps me on the water. Strangely enough, the big trout aren't afraid of getting wet. Only had it a few months and 3 heavy t-storms, so can't comment on longevity, but when I get it on and the rain is coming down in sheets I think, "Oh yeah, that's why I paid [$] for a light jacket."

Excellent rain jacket. The material stretches and moves with you for a very comfortable fit. It is very light and packable, easy to toss in a daypack just in case. It is a little on the pricy side but well worth it. There are less expensive jackets but non that perform as well. Soft shells soak through, other hard shells are less comfortable and more restrictive, this just works.

There is elastic in the cuff and around the inner portion of the hood to keep everything where it should be. This keeps water out of the sleeves and allows the hood to move with your head and not flop down in front of your eyes. Overall a well thought out jacket with some great finishing touches.
