This helmet likely saved my life 2 days ago. As I write this review, I am still in the hospital with a broken back, but my head on has abrasions despite being hit by a car and going through the windshield. My head hit something hard while I was on my way through the windshield because there is damage 4 inches in diameter extending about 3/4 inch into the helmet foam. The total helmet system seemed to absorb a lot of the energy which likely contributed to saving my neck etc.

Bought this helmet around 6 months ago. I ride around 50-60 miles per week, mostly on road and some off, and this helmet is one of the best I have ever worn. Love the fit and the antimicrobial & machine washable padding is a definite plus. The Roc Loc adjustment is simple, fast, and makes the helmet extremely customizable. It is fairly light weight, and the vents seem to be well placed and allow a good amount of cooling air into the helmet. Extremely happy with this helmet!

After wearing an Atmos for the past five years, I decided to switch it up and migrate to the Mountain side of life.

This helmet has been a delight so far. The fit, as has long been my experience with Giro lids, is great, and the changes they've made in the RocLoc system seem to be good ones. The helmet is the most comfortable I've ever worn, the internal pads are robust and cushy, and I dig the wild color options.

I can't speak to the trail worthiness of the helmet, as I use it primarily for urban riding, bike commuting and road cycling. That said, it's been great for all of those endeavors, and I'm supremely happy with my purchase.

I just replaced my Fox Flux helmet which for years has served me well. I was hesitant to switch back to Giro specifically because of the fit. The Xar is by far the best mtn biking helmet out there now. The one finger adjustment in the back is perfect. Simple dial in adjustment. Plenty of vents for airflow. Durability (I already crashed) is sound. It looks great, feels good. Antimicrobacterial padding is a plus. Visor is adjustable. I look forward to many epic rides with this helmet and know my head is protected.
