Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
Other than the price , there is nothing to recommend this bag for backpacking. I'm presently on the Long Trail in Vermont and it's been about 10F to mid 20's at night - bag has been warm. The stuff sack that comes with this is beyond useless - it is a 2 strap type and turns this beast into a taco instead of compressing to a managable size. I had to purchase an REI 21L stuffsack just to get it (barely) into the bag compartment of my Arcteryx Bora 80 - not a small pack , so that should tell you something. The zipper is cheap and tiny and will jam immediately unless you use baby care and attention. The whole reason I am even writing this is because we had to get off trail and address these gear failures of a two ripping compressions sacks for these bags - my girl *has* to top load this beast in her Osprey 70L - WILL NOT fit in clamshell. And also had to stop and sew the zipper on one of the bags that tore after a jam. While warm and relatively cheap , I will be returning these beasts for something in the new down stuff as soon as I get off trail. These would be fine for base camp operations or car camping - as far a multiweek backpacking goes - not so much.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
I just finished a 12 day backpacking trip in the Yukon with this bag and it worked out great.
The bag itself is very simple with a single pull-cord to tighten the hood, however it is extremely comfy. It isn't the most roomy bag, but it is perfect for keeping warm. It was around 40 degrees F out on most nights and I was cozy with just shorts and a t-shirt in the bag with no liner.
Two things that bring it down to a 4-star review:
1. The zipper snags pretty much every time you need to get out of the bag.
2. The bag does not pack very small, in fact it barely fit inside my backpack. Perhaps a different compression sack would improve this, but it was very awkwardly shaped in the sack that came with the bag.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
This thing is horrible. I have used it twice, Big Sur and Russian. I have never been so cold in my life and I have slept outside with only a blanket due to poor planning. North Face brags that this bag can keep you warm down to zero degrees, I don't see how that is possible as I was cold when it was only 40 degrees at night. Not only did it not keep me insulated it trapped the moisture from my body into the bag creating a moist and damp environment inside the bag which contiguously cooled me down. Maybe a liner would help but it is already to big and bulky I don't want to have to pack additional gear in a feeble attempt to make a sub par product just ok.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
My friends and I are boy scouts. All the other boys had mummy bags but I did not. I needed a bag for a cold weather, backpacking "overnight". I can only carry 1/3 of my weight in supplies, this bag needed to be light weight. I wanted a bag I would be able to grow into, this one is good for up to 6 feet. It needed to be warm and comfortable. The polyester fiber fill is better than down in wet conditions. Lastly, the colors were awesome.
I can't sleep in this bag in the house. It get's too hot. On the overnight, temperature got down to below freezing. There was frost on our tent in the morning. This bag kept me cozy and warm.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
Just got this bag. It was warm and comfy when I crawled in, but then again, my living room isn't very cold...
The zipper will still snag a bit even with the anti-snag feature. But it was easy enough to pull out.
I'm loving how light it is for a synthetic bag. Yes, it's heavier than down, but down doesn't work in the PNW's winters... or most of the time for that matter. Yes, the bag is a little bulky, but it is lighter than others out there. Seems worth the trade-off for a good night's sleep.
The one thing I detest is the compression sack. The bag is hard to pack down tight enough to get the top closed. I much prefer the old style sacks where they are a little taller than they need to be and you can just cinch them down with the top cap. The sack has the roll down top, which just seems to add bulk. I'd understand if it was a good weight/space saving, but I doubt it is. Of course, I'll just get a different stuff sack! :)

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
First sleeping bag in a long time. Used it on a Mt Rainier climb June 30th at Ingraham Flats (11,100 ft) and on Mt Baker for 5 nights in August above Sandy Camp (6,300 ft) both times on snow. Kept me warm every night, sleeping in just a t-shirt and under pants, other climbers were very cold in their rental bags (which on Baker were +10F rated not 0F). I chose synthetic over down because I wanted to be able handle the wet as well as the cold. The bag only just fits through mouth of my REI XT 75 backpack, when wrapped in plastic, but it does fit. The compression bag it comes could be a lot better, but works well enough for me.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
SnowShoe and SnowLeopard don't connect! the size of zippers are different between these two bags, so if you are planning to connect these two, it won't work... it is lame. also it is a little bit bulky. warm though.

Comments about The North Face Snow Leopard Sleeping Bag:
Went into REI to pick up a new down bag, and noticed the TNF Snow Leopard. After much thought, I decided to go with a synthetic bag instead. Used it two days after purchase bivvied on the side of a mountain, at about 11,000 feet, in the snow. Temps were down to the single digits, but with wind chill, it must have been below zero. Bag did wonderful! Stayed warm and comfortable all night. The bag does not compress as small as a down bag, but compacts fairly well and is light for a synthetic bag.
