Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Trench Coat - Women's:
This is a beautiful weather garment for city wear. I use it as my "commuter coat" in Seattle where I work in the city and have a long commute. It's great in all but cold weather (unless you layer underneath--but buy large if you need to do that as it's a fairly snug fit).
However, the hood is much too large. It's as if the Patagonia designers used a climbing coat template and designed it to go over a helmet. I have to hold the hood back when it's raining or it flops over my eyes. The adjustment system doesn't do the job as there is nothing in the back to shorten it from the base of the skull, which is the problem area. This is the only reason I would not recommend it. I thought about returning it but I do like the other features and it's really great quality otherwise.

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Trench Coat - Women's:
I bought this because I recently moved to a rainy city and I use it every day! So it's important that it is a flattering coat to wear (it is, it's nice and fitted). It's mostly just a shell, too keep warm I usually wear a cardigan underneath. Two months of vigorous use already and no problems and has really become an integral aspect of my day-to-day. Worth every penny I spent on it and will continue to be so.

Finally, a knee-length, waterproof coat with style!! I have looked for a long time for this coat. The sleeves had to be shortened but I find this to be true with almost every garment I purchase. I LOVE this coat!!!!

Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Trench Coat - Women's:
I wear this as a final layer over warmer ones. Living in the Pacific Northwest, this is pretty ideal. I'm 5'5'' and it falls to mid-thigh. Although I have a large bust, I generally wear small or medium sized clothes, depending on the cut. This fits perfect. At the downtown Portland store, I tried on every similar item they had there. I chose this one as the cinched waist worked well with my figure. Other jackets with cinched waists ballooned and poofed up in unattractive ways. This one has no gathering in the front, which allows it to lay flat.
It might not be obvious, but the front pockets open in two ways- from the top and snapped or from the side. Either way, the pocket is lined with a soft material- good for when you forget your mittens.
The only thing I don't like about this jacket is that the cinches at the wrist sometimes fall from where they're supposed to be. Could have been solved by adding another loop. Small fault for how much I get out of it.
