Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
I saw the red color online and needed to have it! I just thought it would be brighter :/ Next time I'll pick more tools over color.

Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
I love the design of the Skeletool, and when I saw the REI Exclusive Red version, I jumped on it immediately. That decision turned a bit sour once I noticed that the paint had started to chip off within a month of carrying it daily. Now, about 2.5mos in, with some good usage in the last few days - the paint is nearly gone on the shield over the knife blade. The other side is very spotty.
The blade has it's drawbacks, as it is very soft steel, and will really lose shape with a proper sharpening, especially when touching up the backside of the serration. This is a sad point, as I replaced my EDC blade with the Skeletool, and it lost it's edge rather quick, only to lose it's shape upon sharpening.
The bottle opener is the best I've ever seen, and love to use it.
The bits work out very well, but I think I may have killed my Phillips #1. RIP lil guy, you did great.
I would recommend this tool, but not in any color that is painted on - perhaps if it were anodized or even powder coated.

Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
Product is used on remote island in Caribbean...cuts ropes, opens oysters, pops bottles, etc. Great stream-lined Mirco-tool. My only complaint is that i wish i had purchased the model of this knife in Black (gun metal). The red paint came off during the first oiling/cleaning...yeah sure i live in a salty, wet environment but should that mean that my handy dandy pocket knife cant take the heat?

Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
I have carried a pocket knife since the late 60's when I started working in the shipyard. For years it was a Buck folding hunter in it's leather pouch. I switched to a keychain knife, the Metro, in the last few years, but it's usefulness was limited to opening boxes and sharpening pencils. I decided to start carrying a mulit-tool and have gone through a dozen of them. Too bulky, too small, always too something. This skeletool seems to be the right size and just enough functions to make me slip it into my back pocket every morning.
I am on my second one. My flight from Miami to Denver last week saw it lifted from my checked baggage, presumably by someone in TSA. If your going to steal a multi-tool, at least, he chose a good one.

Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
After buying one of these, I found it to be wanting enough for tools and a decent grip that I bought a Blast. If you keep the Skeletool in your pocket, it gets fuzz in all the holes where it is impossible to clean out. The Skeletool knife is also a weird shape, so it is very difficult to sharpen. The bit drivers are basically useless if the screw head is recessed more than about a 1/4 inch. The flathead bit also sticks out past the lanyard hole when the tool is closed. It also doesn't feel "right" in the hand, as the grips are curved so your pinkie and ring finger are farther apart than you index and middle finger. If you can, try in out in the store with something about a 1/4" in diameter in the pliers (you will see what I mean). If you want useful pliers, a can opener, decent screwdrivers, and better grip, buy a Kick. It weighs only 0.2 oz more, and is only slightly bigger. Plus, you can buy a pocket clip and a dit driver for the Kick that takes standard hex bits, if you need to adjust specialty screws. The Kick is probably a good deal cheaper too.

I like this tool so much that I'm on my 3rd one (lost the other 2 while climbing/hiking). I'm going to "dummy" cord this one to me but if I lose it I'll buy another.

Comments about Leatherman Skeletool Multitool:
As general contractor I carry a knife all the time and this one replaced my Leatherman Wave and I found it to be an excellent replacement. I now carry the Skeletool all the time, no bulky sheath to contend with, lighter weight. It's great! Not as many options, but 99% of the time it has all that I need.
