Deep dish Weinmann DP18 rims are outfitted with high-flange hubs and puncture-resistant Vittoria Zaffiro tires

  • Flip-flop rear hub can be turned over and run with the 16-tooth fixed cog
  • Front and rear Tektro dual-pivot caliper brakes with Inline levers make quick, responsive work of slowing you down when needed
  • Reynolds 520 steel frame provides the legendary smooth ride of steel with track-inspired geometry and horizontal rear dropouts that feature built-in tensioners
  • Rounding out the goodies, the platform pedals accept street shoes and feature steel cages with leather straps
  • Saddle, grips, cable housing, frame accents, seatpost clamp and headset all match for subtle style
  • Simple and tough, the Raleigh Rush Hour bike offers a single-speed drivetrain for minimal hassle and lasting performance, though the great style goes a long way as well.
  • Single-speed drivetrain consists of Sugino Messenger cranks with a 46-tooth chainring driving a 16-tooth freewheel for unbeatable utilitarian simplicity
  • Specs on the Raleigh Rush Hour bike are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Raleigh Rush Hour Bike - 2011:

I bought this as my first road bike with 700c wheels. Originally, I had planned on going into my local bike shop only to get fitted and then purchase online. My plans changed when I first took this bike on a test ride and knew almost immediately that I had to buy it right then and there. It is a quick bike. The gearing is easy enough to get up most hills without any trouble while still being able to get some speed going back down. The wheels and crankset weigh it down a bit, but are completely manageable. The geometry is pretty run of the mill track-inspired, but it feels great when hauling butt :)I love the classic styling of the bike. I'm not a very flashy person by any means, so I really like the subtleties of the neutral color scheme. Many of the stock parts are great compared to most other "entry level" track/fixed gear bikes. The wheels and cranks are both great name brands and were actually major factors leading me to this bike.- One thing that did really annoy me about this bike was the rear hub. After a few months of riding I wanted to increase my gearing from the stock 46x16 to 46x15. To my dismay, I discovered that the Dura Ace cog and lockring I purchased would not fit onto my bike. The rear hub/cog are splined (think BMX style), so they were not compatible with traditional threaded cogs. I think the design is great and leaves no room for the cog to slip, but it was a PITA to not have standardized parts. The pedals (welgo w/ clips) are pretty substandard as well, but you will only really notice if you ride fixed.I have since replaced the wheels, bars, stem, saddle, seatpost, and foot retention systems. With the exception of the pedals, all of these parts were perfectly functional and were only changed out because of my preferences. All in all, a great bike that I do not regret purchasing in the slightest. A great bike to ride around in the city, the Rush Hour will give you plenty of miles and hours to fall in love with cycling. Even with the quirky splined cog system, I would recommend this to anyone looking to be introduced to singlespeed/fixed gear.http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/raleigh-rush-hour-11-3542
