Comments about Marmot Plasma +30 Sleeping Bag:
This is just plain awesome!
Light weight and all you need for summer use. I haven't used it yet for "shoulder seasons", although I think it will work fine as I've been plenty warm and probably could have used the +40 bag instead for this summer. I am planning on using it for this fall with the addition of long underwear that I carry with me anyway. This bag packs in a 13L stuff sack so easily I think there's very little impact on the down each time it's stowed so will last even longer.
I've named the bag "mossy" after it's mossy green interior color (kind of weird color and the fact that I named the sleeping bag, although I truly love this bag).
GET THIS BAG, YOU'LL LOVE IT TOO! :)

Comments about Marmot Plasma +30 Sleeping Bag:
I'm no experienced woodsman but I've been into the backcountry more than any of my friends or family; I do love a good camping trip. I'm 25 years old and needed some gear of my own now that I'm out of my parents' house and planning a trip.
The way I operate when it comes to purchasing ANYTHING is either get the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST option that will do the job, or bite the bullet and buy the best, something that will outlast all the competition.
You can probably tell based on the price tag of this bag that this is the second option. I did wait/look around until I found a sale and ended up saving about $90 on this bag.
I was looking for a bag that could handle warm and even hot temperatures (I'm in Texas) but also handle cool to moderately cold temps (my favorite backpacking is in the Rockies in the summer). I also wanted lightweight, comfortable, and cool-looking. Price was no object; I decided to buy a bag that I would be thrilled to still be using 10-15 years from now.
This bag HITS EVERYTHING I WANTED and goes BEYOND in terms of sheer gorgeous sleeping-bag-ness.
For example, I get claustrophobic easily in a tight mummy bag. Considering the weight and "seriousness" of this bag's attitude, I was expecting it to be fairly restrictive. It's not at all - I have more room than I ever expected. I am quite small (5'7", 125 pounds) BUT I've still felt cramped in plenty of mummy bags. Not this one.
Look, I DON'T KNOW how much of a better deal I could have gotten with a cheaper bag... maybe it's true that it could have come close to the quality for less $$.
I DON'T CARE. This bag literally makes me SQUEAL with delight .... and I'm a guy not prone to squealing. I'm not joking, I was squealing like a pig and giggling like a little girl. I haven't stopped. This day feels tedious as I wait for night to fall so I can climb back in and have another great night's sleep.
Someone early said it - this is the "Ferrari" of sleeping bags.
SO feature-loaded (insanely light, draft collar kicks butt, packs down into a tiny stuffsack), so comfortable and spacious (I immediately pulled all covers off my bed and am now sleeping in this bag every night), so DARN GOOD-LOOKING, an absolutely gorgeous bag - the jet-black outside and the luxurious green of the inside... and as with a Ferrari, I'm looking forward to making my friends jealous :)
I don't know exactly how cold you could go with this bag, but I suspect it will work for a VERY broad range of temperatures, because of the draft collar and well-designed face hole at the top. I bet with a good insulating pad and a little warm clothing you could eke out another 10-15 degrees below the recommended 30 degrees. But seriously, don't quote me.
Anyway, I'm absolutely thrilled with this purchase and cannot wait to test it out in the backcountry. Till then, I bet I'll be sleeping in it every night at home. Ok, back to the squealing and jumping around as I continually get in, zip up, roll around delightfully, jump out, look at it, get back in...

Details on the temp rating: I was sleeping on a 3/4 Therma-Rest inside a small dome tent. Probably about 5 degrees warmer inside than the 32-33 deg outside so my assessment of the temp rating is based on someone sleping on a mat inside a tent.

Comments about Marmot Plasma +30 Sleeping Bag:
Bottom line: A supurb bag, but way too much money. You can get a bag that is almost a good for half the cost. I bought this bag because I don't like the sweaty clamy feeling I have in my Kelty Lightyear Down 40. With the ultra-thin 10 Denier nylon inner an outer, I figured it was my best shot at a breathable sleeping bag (I sleep very warm and perspire more than most). Well it was definitly more breathable, but I was still somewhat clammy and if I'm going to spend over $400 on a bag it better be perfect, so I returned it.
The EN temp rating is very accurate. I spent two nights in it in the Sierras and the second night there was just a touch of frost on the ground when I woke up. The bag was very comfortable in the early morning all zipped up. If your a guy and a wamer sleeper, you could probably be comfortable in this bag down to about 29 deg, but for most the 33 deg EN rating is about perfect.
It's just a well designed bag. Zipper functions well, but not perfect as I snagged it a couple times (but it was way better than my Kelty's zipper). I'm 5'10 180lbs with broad shoulders, so the girth of this bag is a bit cramped for me, but probably fine for most (I like to be able to move my arms around a lot when I sleep). The girth is at the low end of the normal range to save weight, so my bag weighed 24oz stuffed in the sack, 2oz more than advertized.
I'm giving it 4 stars because at this price, the zipper should be perfect (not just good), it should be a inch or two more roomy, and it should weigh what was advertized. Would have easily earned 5 stars at a $300 price point. Recommended for hard-core enthusiests, but too much bag (and money) for most.

Comments about Marmot Plasma +30 Sleeping Bag:
I just returned from 11 days in the BWCA and just loved sleeping in this bag. We had a couple of nights in the 30's and the bag was more than capable of maintaining a comfortable temp. I also found that the bag was comfortable when the temps were in the 40's and 50's (and 60's camping closer to home). Overall, the bag has a wider comfort range than other bags I have had that had similar temp ratings.
I agree with the other post that you can't believe how feather-light this bag is. It is really well made and with a liner could easily work as a 4 season, year-round bag. I am 6' and 160 pounds and didn't feel restricted at all. I could sleep on my side or back and not have any problems changing positions.
I use a Cocoon Silk Mummy Liner (highly recommended!) to help keep the inside clean and add the potential to use the bag as a quilt when it is warmer out. I also bought a 10L Granite Gear eVent Sil Compression DrySack to transport it in a waterproof bag and compress it further if I needed too (it packs so small to begin with, compression isn't really necessary). My Exped Air Pillow fits perfectly in the hood and stays there the whole night.
My only nitpicks are that 1) if you are value hunting, you can get 80-90% of what this bag offers for less money, and 2) Marmot could include a nicer carry bag for the price they charge (they do include a nice net bag for long-term storage though). I wouldn't let those nitpicks dissuade you though.
Overall, I love this bag. For me, it was worth the extra money to get a bag that should last a lifetime. The workmanship is first class and the bag delivers on everything promised. I enjoyed every single night I have slept in it and can't wait to take it out to the backcountry again. Highly recommended to those willing to spend a little more to get the best!

I carry a Atmos 55 with the Marmot Home Alone bivy. I usually hike in lightweight barefoot trail running shoes. This has to by my favorite piece of equipment out of all of them. It packs so small that I don't even compress it all the way when its in the compression sack, and seriously who doesn't think a pound and a half isn't just amazing minamalist or a classic backpacker.
